Watch: VW, Audi and Skoda go head-to-head (with a surprising winner)

When car journalists test a VW Group product, they will often compare it to its platform “brothers”. If a magazine test-drives a SEAT Ibiza, they will refer to the Volkswagen Polo at one point or another, and when they review a Lamborghini Huracan, they would probably comment on whether it’s worth the premium over an Audi R8.

However, it is pretty uncommon to see three VW Group products in a head-to-head comparison like the one Carwow published recently. In this comprehensive review, Carwow’s Mat Watson has taken three TDI-powered wagons (Estates in UK lingo) and tried to find out what the differences are between the VW Passat, Skoda Superb and Audi A4 – and if you should pay extra for the latter. Some of his conclusions are rather predictable, but we found the bottom line to be quite surprising.
