Volkswagen Shows Off its Enthusiast Fleet

Summer is just around the corner, which means that the show season is upon us. Everybody is cleaning and prepping their cars to be show ready, and that means Volkswagen, too.

Like last year, Volkswagen of America has built a handful of show cars to show off at this year’s major VW shows. Premiering this weekend at SOWO: The European Experience on Hutchinson Island, Savannah, Georgia, there are five show cars built especially for the show:

Beetle Post Concept:

Designed with the help of BMX champ, Alise Post, this Beetle has been outfitted with two custom GW bikes. Riding on 19-inch Mr. Drama Queen wheels from Radi8, the Beetle Post Concept uses an H&R Springs Street Performance Coil Over system that gives it the perfect stance. Habanero Orange paint and the vintage lettering on the doors add to this Beetle`s retro aesthetic.

Jetta GLI Nardo Concept:

The GLI has always been a bit of a sleeper and the Nardo Concept embraces that, adding a few simple touches to make the car shine. Wrapped in Nardo Grey, a color borrowed from Ingolstadt, this GLI`s lines are highlighted simply. Over the course of the summer, the Nardo Concept will feature different sets of HRE wheels, starting with the above FF01 Flow Form series, finished in Tarmac. The Nardo has an H&R Springs Street Performance Coil Over system and BF Goodrich G-FORCE™ COMP-2 A/S tires.

Golf GTI RS:

Sam Dobbins, Creative Director at Vossen Wheels, a big VW fan, so his Golf GTI RS Concept is an amalgam of different car cultures with a particularly heavy Japanese influence thanks to the Rocket Bunny widebody kit. To set his car apart, Dobbins put a lot of effort into making sure that the sheet metal was honed to eliminate wheel rub, making the GTI RS comfortable on any rod. The interior is stripped, but the polished aluminum floorpan, race seats, and other accents reflect the extreme exterior design. The GTI RS Concept, of course, wears Vossen wheels and features a Thule carrier box with custom, low-profile roof cross bars.

Golf R Heritage Concept:

The Golf R Heritage concept is an homage to the Golf’s German heritage with an elegant stripe package in the colors of the German flag. Vossen has provided the wheels, starting with the VWS-1 finished in matte gunmetal and polished anodized silver. The wheels are wrapped in G-FORCE COMP-2 A/2 tires from BF Goodrich and the car is lowered with a sport spring package from H&R Springs.

Golf Alltrack Country Concept:
The Golf Country, which was sold only in Europe, inspired this concept. It was designed for medium-duty off-road driving and equipped with more suspension travel, Syncro four-wheel drive, greater ground clearance, and brush guards. The stock Golf Alltrack is already equipped with all-wheel drive and has extra ground clearance, but the Golf Alltrack Country concept features another 2-inches of suspension and 15-inch wheels fitted with some pretty aggressive BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires.

Overlanding is made easier thanks to a roof-mounted tent system, topped with flexible solar panel, an LED light bar, and a solar-heated shower. An entertainment system, complete with computer, is integated into the trunk. Vw has hidden three batteries under the trunk floor that are charged by the solar power system to keep the music playing. The Alltrack Country is finished off with a custom topography graphic wrap.
