Watch: The Huracan Performante is Fast, but How is it to Drive?

When Lamborghini first reported its Huracan Performante’s lap time at the Nurburgring, other automakers pretty much all agreed that it was impossible.

The Huracan beat a Porsche that cost several times more and made hundreds of hp more around the green hell.

So what was the secret? According to Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman, the secret is driver confidence.

Lamborghini has not, historically, been known for its performance bona fides. More the makers of bedroom posters than race cars, the Italian brand was about style.

A few years ago, though, Lamborghini decided that it wanted to be taken seriously and it really applied itself to making a true performer.

Although there have been some bumps along the way, with understeering cars and magnetic suspensions that weren’t always great, it seems that Lambo has finally hit the nail on the head with the Performante.

More than just a clever aero trick, the car feels planted, says Lieberman. The car fills the driver with the confidence to push for every second allowing for lap times that sound unbelievable.
