Watch: Petrolicious Features a 1990 16V Mk2 GTI

We’ve known for a long time that the GTI is just about the most useable sports car out there. So long, in fact, that generations of enthusiasts have been basking in its glory.

Andrew Tucker, from the UK, says that the memories of being a little kid hanging out in his dad’s GTI are as big a part of the joy of owning this car’s as driving it.

Naturally, being an old car, it doesn’t have a ridiculous amount of power, but that’s not a bad thing. It just means that all of the power can be accessed. As Chris Harris might say, it’s a “ten-tenths” car, even though Tucker’s Labrador can fit in the back.

And while some people might be tempted to add some power (lookin’ at you), Tucker says he sees his role here as just preserving the car as a daily driving testament to people’s sports car.
