Everyone CHILL i just decided I am going to be running a 18x8.5..... How about telling and helping me with some BEST ET#s for a stock fender...FOR 18x8.5...?
Thanks Bryan
This is my R32 on stock suspension. It sits on a very common fitment wheel, an 18x8 et45 OZ Ultraleggera:
That's with a 235/40/18 Dunlop Direzza Star Spec on it. The tire actually measures about 242mm across the meaty bit, so 'fat' for a 235.
This was intended as a "motorsports" setup that looks OK. I've been asked once or twice "What spacers are you running to get flush like that?" Straight, no spacer.
Even at that, I get some compression rubbing in the rear:
It was worse with the original rear diff which on mine was mounted offset to the right by maybe 5mm. Rubbed the right rear fender. I replaced the rear diff assembly (smoked a Haldex) and the new one is mounted truer.
Up front I did the 'fender screw mod'.
This is the 'experience base' I draw from on these fitment Qs. When I see them, I typically go to:

and plug in my setup as a base, then "your dream setup". I look at the graphic and try and decide if you've gone too far.
I think you could *probably* run a 18x8.5 et45 wheel, but not with my tire. You'd want a 225 or less.
Wheel fitment questions almost always 'fork' between performance guys and stance guys. Yeah, I'd like it if my set up looked cool, but I'm more concerned with how much the wheel weighs, and can I get some decent rubber on the ground for max handling. A performance wheel like that OZ weighs a tad over 19#. Some of the cool looking wheels are 30# or more. You can really feel a difference in the way the car drives with that change in rotating and unsprung weight.
I have changed out the the suspension since that first photo was taken. It now sits roughly 3/4" lower and has 2.0 degrees camber at all four corners. My preference would have been to leave it at stock height for performance reasons, but it's really hard to find a high functioning suspension that isn't lowered.
