Hey all,
The stock system on my 96 Jetta 2.0 is rusting out, so it's tiome to get a new one. I'll need a cat back system, but I am not sure what to look for. i DO NOT want a fart can sound at all. I am looking for something with a sweet sound, or a quiet sound. I wouln't mind a few ponies either, but I don't have lots of $$$ Either.
What can I find out there? Where can I buy it?
Thanks for any and all tips!

Re: 2.0 Exhaust options? (JettaGT383)

I had a TT catback with borla muffler on my other jetta it sounded great. If you want quiet get a 2nd resontor, and maybe get the highflow cat depending on your mileage since your already there and can't forget the new o2 sensor. I recommend getting the heavy duty rubber chain hangers. You wouldnt have to touch the exhaust in atleast 5-8yrs I got a exhaust ticket passing a cop on other side of the road it got his attention some how. I plan on getting one after mine rusts out for my new jetta with a nice tip. Hope I helped

Re: 2.0 Exhaust options? (Fallacy)

If you want the best bang for your buck find a new or used vr6 muffler (or equivalent) and have a straight pipe welded from the cat. I removed my suitcase muffler and resonator and no problems, the shop did a great job, not much drone at all. Sounds deep and not super loud at idle. If you have the bucks, magnaflow catback is one of the sweetest sounds i have heard on a dub.

Re: 2.0 Exhaust options? (DRC INC)

You should take a look at the Flowmaster muffler for the TT system. It's cheaper and makes more power. The sound is different from a Borla, but still a quality tone. Because the Flowmaster is baffled, you'll get a nice little cackle when you get off the gas.

Re: 2.0 Exhaust options? (slow 2.0)

ok say it with me FLOWMASTER. i was in the same boat wanted a quiet exhaust with some performance. it is such a beautiful system it fell right into place. it has a great sound and i am just so happy with it.

got my magnaflow catback for $379..free shipping. From their warehouse in canada to my front door in south alabama, in THREE DAYS!!
Get the magnaflow http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif ..not loud, just deep. It's what you say you're looking for, and the HP gains are noticeably noticable.

Re: 2.0 Exhaust options? (reynolds9000)

If you're in a low-snow area, the aluminum Dynomax TT system is great. If not, I'd consider the Borla and stainless steel TT. Or just paint your aluminum system like I did.
