One end of the long piece is rounded, the other cupped. The short piece is rounded on both ends. Where is that gear supposed to sit? Thanks.

Re: Is this what a pushrod SHOULD look like???? (glibobbo21)

I do believe she's fluxed!
Normally that is one single rod with rounded ends. (both ends) The brass piece is the bushing that pushes into the tranny. There should have been a seal right there over the bushing too.

ok...tha's what i figured. does anyone happen to have a pic of what the bushing and seal should look like? makes my tranny repair that much easier...

That bushing looks OK. Just insert it into the input shaft tapered side first. The seal is a little brown donut, make sure it goes in perfectly straight and not too far.
If you buy a used pushrod, you should polish it.

yeah, don't try to save a couple dollars on the bushing. I did and I wished i didn't. So the second time doing it i changed everything just to be sure. It was only a few bucks here and there.
Your pushrod is toast so I'd imagine your pushrod bushing is also kinda messed up.
