Thank you, sir. It is good to see a man use the Queen's when referring to this fine piece of heavy engineering, assembled by Cheshiremen in a manner that is certainly consistent with the work ethic of the Midlands.

now now, theyre hand built, but theyre handbuilt well at least!
have you measured how square an MG is? now thats built to the best work ethic of the midlands! hah
You would think that after making the same car for almost 20 years, they would finally get it right. Alas, that was a bridge too far.

British Leyland is a cautionary tale for going too big, and never rationalising brands.

One might surmise that the early cars were 'more square' than the later ones. Would that be an incorrect assumption? (Hey, I'm trying to use the Queen's English to fit in here!)

im not so sure - i think all years had rear axles offset ~1/4-1/2" to the passenger (i think...) side. and trunk openings were always within +/-1/8" on the diagonal.

Wow! I'm just not used to that kind of thing. Mine were German (duh) and the build quality was amazing for its day, especially after a couple of decades of production. This is just so... weird to me.

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!

M Roadster has been seen and driven by me and titleist1976. We even cruised on the highway for dudes and saw a Peruvian supercar. Bentley should be seen by Monday/Tuesday since the place is closed on weekends.

I really thought the M Roadster was going to be a pile before I went to Eurotrash motors. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't put together from 3 different cars after 2 bottles of Stoli.
The body on that car is straight and i didn't find any evidence of frame damaging accidents. It looks like it was just daily driven by a heavy set person(driver seat is pretty gone) that didn't flog it.
Trans felt great, clutch and brakes were tight and engine revved and behaved just as good as the 64K mile S52 in my M.
It does seem that the top is compromised and with the recent rain we got in Sac the interior was drenched and possibly had a bit of standing water in it.
I am not going to write a 2 page report about this car right now because my 4yo is yanking me from my computer but overall it is a pretty solid, not mechanically abused sample of an M Roadster. On the East Coast it would be bought up by Vinnie from Southern NJ in no time.
It got a 10 footer paint job by Eurotrash which looks pretty good RIGHT NOW.
Car needs heavy interior cosmetic TLC.
Has Bilsteins. They look like HD units and definitely don't feel as tight as Sports. Pretty sure they are non-adjustable.

I am not a mechanic so look at pics and maybe you can spot something I didn't.
.
CURRENT VERDICT: nm+, titleist and I agree that it is too nice for Vad. I think it is worth close to the asking price considering what some forum lunatics are asking for their regular Z3s.

Interesting Top situation:

East Coasters will cry when they see this rust free pic:

Front bumper plastics got a Euro Star motors special 200mph wood screws.

Top needs new seals since they are either completely missing or about to go missing.

A little more mold.

Someone loved this shifter. A LOT.

Is there supposed to be a subwoofer in there?

Weird clearcoat thing going on in the trunk lid

More mold...

The car was interesting. It needs a lot of tlc. The wheels need some new clearcoat, too. A bunch of the vin numbers matched up. Good times. Two dudes driving down the highway in this thing got some looks.

This may all have been for naught. The Roadster Russians deleted the CL post a few hours ago.

FWIW, of all the decent quality engine swaps I've seen in these cars (from GM V8's to Toyota turbo diesels); they all found a way to retain the hydraulics by replacing the cam driven pumps.
Several cars used electric pumps, while one had a belt driven pump.

Shows that even with slick engineering, it's still easier to just (mostly) keep what's already there.
