Re: just a question (#466gti)

I'm thinking about getting the R32 but I'm not "over" the 20th AE. I would really like the VR6 and indepedent rear suspension.
The only complaint I have is about the engine. The turbo is nice but I'd like a more predictable power delivery package. I doubt I'd get the R32 though. The 20AE is such a complete car!

how many of you are starting to get over your 20th and thinking about getting into a new car soon?

Re: just a question (#466gti)

When you feel that way just add a mod on...youll love her that much more again.

You can apprepicate the car in a different way...thats why I'm spacing out everything I do. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: just a question (secretaznman)

I am bored of the car.. its not fast, it doesn't handle well, but it is comfortable and reliable transportation. I've significantly reduced the amount that I drive my car... basically its just too and from work anymore. Hopefully late next year or early '05 she'll be replaced by an Elise, or if not, I'll try to buy a house.

Re: just a question (zerind)

i was lookin at those elise's
nice cars.
180hp non turbo in a 2000lb package
Image

should be a niiiiiiice handling car
Image

and ive done all i want to do to my gti. chip exhaust intake. not much i can do to make it any faster unless i drop the coin for a stage 3. but that much money for the numbers ive seen is just not worth it. i could get an r32 and drop a pretty nice chunk of change and get 450hp out of it
Image

i dont know how many of you have seen the 0-30mph in 1 second flat r32 video. but it is impressive. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds

Re: just a question (sexyVWdiva)

I just need more power.. I have done intake, exhaust, chip, tip, samco 5-piece kit, DG SS, HB DV, N75... I love the car but I think an R32 will be sufficient for me. That way I can do upgrades to an already quick ride. I am thinking about ditching my ride in the near future for a more suffisticated car but I love them Dubs... Props to my baby tres tres siete.. I take good care of her until the day she is gone.

I'm totally bored with the car. Its ugly and slow and handles like crap. I'm probably going to trade it in this weekend and buy a used Toyota Echo... Maybe a Pontiac Aztek. Talk about massive potential!
If I decide to keep the car, I'll paint it UPS brown and put spinner hubcaps on it. I'll downsize the brakes so that I can put 15" wheels on it and those really narrow tires that they put on the Honda Insight that give better gas mileage. Maybe I'll get Ronal Bears for it. Fuzzy dice and a Wallmart antena ornament are definite musts.
Yup! way too bored.

I have not driven my 337 for 3+ maybe 4+ months now because I am deployed in Iraq. I have many new modifications i am going to add on when I get back which will make me love my car all the more. I am currently pulling ahead of my buddy that has a 2003 wrx. His jaw dropped when I was pulling away, and the smile on my face was ear to ear. Keep on adding mods, you will see the light

are you sure you drive a 20th?

mine has always handled great ... and its not very comfortable for long trips, except when you are driving real hard ...

Re: just a question (clattymine)

Handles great is a relative term. I am used to a fully performance suspension equipped AWD car. Now I'm in this thing... and I refuse to throw money at a FWD car anymore.

Re: just a question (#466gti)

Wow, I felt like I was the only one who wasn't blown away by this car's performance until reading this post. I still LOVE the look of the car but man, I dunno about having to coax the power from the turbo. Also, what was the logic behind putting a 6spd in these?
I'll bet most of these ppl selling their 337s/20ths 'to buy a house', or whatever, are tired of the 1.8 and are going to show up with r32s in a couple months.

Re: just a question (Chimera)

Bump for the logic of the 6-speed? Just a curious question to those of you people with 337/20ths. When your in 6-gear.. driving on the freeway, approx. @ 80mph... My RPMs are steady at 3.7 RPM. Now @ 80mph, with only about 3 RPMs to sky left... what is our car actually capable of in top speed (chipped)... Also take in consideration, Ino this is in 6th gear only, and you will most definitely top the 6-gear accel. max speed by dropping the gears first to get your most efficient climax. So, as this might sound a bit confusing... my initial question that I am implying is what is the top speed for starting to accel. in 6th-gear @ 80mph VS.. dropping the gears to whatever you feel most comfortable with and accelerating to the max?

Re: just a question (MRballer337)

What is wrong with having a 6-speed?
The 6sp either lowers the engine speed (at higher road speeds), packs the ratios tighter, or both.
I would take either of the above over a 5-speed. Its quite nice to average 85-90mph without the engine spinning like crazy.
