So what offset should I use for 15X8 RFX's

A better question is what tire size are you gonna run???
Knowing you (so far) you aren't doing it for that *cooooooool*
Image
euro look.
Hmmmm....the only tire that comes to mind is the 245/45/15.
It would be about 0.3% larger dia than stock and a whopping 9.65" wide
The 215/45/15 would work also but would probably stretch the sidewall just a little.
Ummm....offset.......I figure the 14X7's are 25mm and have plenty of inside clearance so for the 15X8 I would imagine you would be ok with 20-25mm.
If you run the 215/45/15's you might get away with it (fender clearance) but any larger tire and you'd have rubbing for sure.
These are just my opinions of course, I am no expert

Did you sell your RS's????

There should be at least one more set of R10's on hand.. looks like I'm gonna make it.. all 800 miles round trip! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Hey Kevin C. Hope you don't mind, but I posted a pic of your car on the A1 forum. I didn't know it was yours. I posted it on the ronal thread to show what the R-10s looked like. I can't wait to see that car in person.

Looks like I'll keep the Toyos if I find a set of wheels I like with the correct offset - although 15X8 with 195/45-15s would be sooo 'phat'
Image

One would hope... except the BBS wheels I am selling are ET24 and they needed at least 5mm more backspacing to keep the tires off the fenders.
quote:

Did you sell your RS's????

Now Randy, if I had RS' I would never sell them... offsets can be dealt with on 3 piece wheels
Image
I have the one piece cast 'bottlecaps' - anyone know the BBS name for these?

Re: A1 Desert Run '01 - Oct 28. (antgti)

Thanks for the heads up Anthony
Image

At least those that don't know will show up 1 hr early instead of 1 hr late.....guess I should make it to ND at 9am just in case.
It is confirmed that we will be allowed to park on the front walkway at Blackhawk Auto Museum for pictures between 4-4:30pm and we will get a special discount rate of $6 to tour the musuem for those that chose to do so. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
See ya all Sunday

Re: A1 Desert Run '01 - Oct 28. (ericb49)

Eric,
If those are et24 they are probably OEM BMW E-30 series wheels.
The "bottlecap" wheels were OEM VW wheels (dont think they were made by BBS) and looked....welll......like a bottlecap. They came stock on my dads 87 8V Jetta GLI.
Craig also has them on his Scirocco (He might make it this weekend).

Re: A1 Desert Run '01 - Oct 28. (Sirocco)

LOL I guess the 'bottlecap' doesn't refer to the center cap...or does it
Image
I at first thought they were OEM but the only E30 that came with 4X100 4-bolt 15X7 wheels was the 325iX, and those used a different offset if I am not mistaken. I always assumed these were aftermarket.

Re: A1 Desert Run '01 - Oct 28. (ericb49)

Best bet would be to see if it has a part# on it.
If it does you should be able to call a BMW parts dept and have them check to see if it matches their database, otherwise they might be aftermarket.....
If I had some extra $$ and another VW I might take them off your hands..

Yeah, I always thought so but BBS confused things with the current RZ and RZ-II wheels that look nothing like these old mesh types...

Re: A1 Desert Run '01 - Oct 28. (ericb49)

Fellas, I'm WAY sorry I wasn unable to make the trip up. I got my car back Thursday night, then had it back in the shop again Friday for several things that somehow cropped up in the SEVEN weeks I was without it (alarm quit working, piece to actuate power lock pump in driver's door broke, thus preventing me from locking the passenger side door, which has a munged door handle lock), serious rattling in the exhaust, and, the show stopper: a new noise in the motor that sounded like the timing belt tensioner. The tensioner was replaced, the sound was gone - for a few seconds, then returned. Methinks it may be another bad tensionser - the one on there only had about 5k on it - other than that, no idea at this point (will be troubleshot further later this week). In any event I wasn't going to go blasting 800 miles round trip with that noise, NFW!
In any event - next NorCal cruise, count me in! I grew up on the peninsula and miss "my" roads.

How was the Blackhawk?
Anyone have pics posted yet?

He he, a brand new Mustang GT -vs- a lightweight Scirocco with a finely tuned suspension....he didn't stand a chance.
Image

I figure that's why after a couple of miles of trying to unsucessfully pull away from me (pitching the backend a few times) he finially pulled over and let us pass
Image

Blackhawk was cool and the pic's came out great.
Anthony got some great shots with his and my camera from the balcony looking down on the cars with the fountain in the background.
Here were some of the pic's from my camera.
The whole group on top of Mt Hamilton (except Todd's supercharged VR6 GIII - couldn't fit in picture

)
Image

And of course a pic of the 4 Mk1 Scirocco's
Image

Image

A shot of the backroads of Mt Hamilton at speed (very hard to take pic's at full chat)
Image

The shot from the balcony of Blackhawk Auto Museum
Missing from this shot was 1 Cabriolet and 2 Mk1 Scirocco's - they had to go home early
Image

Image

I'm sure Anthony and Chris got some even better pic's.
edit: Well I just signed up for PictureTrail pic hosting and can't get them to post here so I will have to try to figure it out tommorow
