What's it can do ?
- Plays stuff from Netflix,
- Plays from YT,
- Plays music from internal storage,
- Make WIFI hotspot "Phaeton WIFI",

I thing it is possible to plays spotify , DVBT (mpeg2) tv ect.

of course it is only Proof of concept - and it stills requires a few more cuts.

Device supports some 3G modems.

Everything is connected to TVtunner on rear shelf.

p.s I am sorry for my English but he is not mine native language.

That looks awesome, well done! So this would replace the existing TV tuner if fitted? I don't have a TV tuner in my car, so if I had one of your boxes could I just code the car to think it did have the TV tuner, and it would work?

I assume adding a music player would not be difficult? If you could do bluetooth A2DP and phone calling I think every Phaeton owner worldwide would be your best friend for life :)

unfortunately not, this device is connected to TVtunner connector (in my case to hybrid tuner but I thing it will be work with any Phaeton tunner).
And it mediates in correspondence from ZAB/RNS to tunner.

But who know - maybe i can make .... something that will completely replace the tuner ... it's not very difficult (main problem is RGB outputs, but there are integrated circuits to do this)

That's great.
Good job.
I don't have a TV tuner, so I can't use it.

I think one could use the video in on the back of RNS.
That was my thinking doing a video/music player using the inputs on the RNS.
What do you think?

Wiken :)

I also don't have the TV tuner, but I don't know if the wiring is there? I am desperate for a solution like this, as I hate having non-integrated bluetooth devices and things hanging out of cigarette sockets etc.

I'm a technology nerd, but with zero programming skills, so I love when people like you do things like this :) With the 20+ years of development since the original Phaeton head units were designed, there must be much better, faster and more efficient ways of doing things than the OEM route :)

This looks amazingly promising!
I also don't have the TV tuner.

The question is.. what does the TV tuner do? Just receive analog signals, converts them to video and stereo audio and shoots this to the ZAB?

ELSmoko: No, unless your car is equipped with the factory option, TV tuner, the wiring won't be there. Completely different wiring-loom for the cars with TV-option.

Project is almost 90% ready :)

So we are nearly ready 90% of scope done, all is working as i wanted :)
Currently:
Internet radio (all international channels in HD quality)
Polish public TV stations (TVP, Polsat, TVN etc),*
Netflix*
Movies from pendrive*
Youtube- my playlists:*
Music from pendrive*

The main GUI is Kodi based program - so every add-ons for kodi should work on my MediaBox
If you want something check :google -> "kodi spotify" , or "kodi korean tv addon"

Hotspot - sharing internet with your passengers via phaeton like in GP4,*
Copy of what is played/showed in the back monitors (used for kids when they are behaving ;) *
Reverse camera (automatically swiched) **
Remote control from steering wheel (choosing, switching next/prev etc)*
System control via original radio button,*
All is displayed even if we drive faster than 3km/h (of course quickly deactivated when needed via one button in ZAB)**

*- Of course without intervention into the radio (to have everything you do not "touch" ZAB)
**- To enable this function you need reconnect one plug in ZAB

To do:
a) automatic downloading mirror folder from server with media files - i don't like taking pen-drive home, i prefer to upload my files to some server and MediaBox must do the rest
b) Automatic software upgrade on MediaBox - I will try to add display on Dashboard sounds/movie/play list,
c) Resume full screen display when you leave vehicle in full screen mode, for now when you lock vehicle when music/netflix/film is playing - when you return/unlock your vehicle - player will start in the same file/track but in windowed mode.

A i C - simple to be done soon, B - we will see:)

Sorry for the quality of the movie - i'm going to make better one. For now only done while driving.
Last version V5 (improved speed ect)

V4 (previous prototype)

You need TvTuner to use this box :)

There are two input method - via TV tuner (but it show "you can't watch when you drive" when you drive),
and via direct transmision to display.
But sound is sending via TV tuner input.

This film show today new feature :

Again great progress!

So in theory for vehicles without the TV-option factory installed, the media box could be connected to the J523 for picture. Then a input has to be made to the correct audio channel on the amplifier?

Yes all nokias support Rsap (and phone book something profile) - so cooperate with Phaeton (like nexus 5x ect.)

I recognize CANbus comand (from Zab) to TV tunner and then use this command to steering my stuff.

You can buy TVmodule for phaeton - on our market they are cheap like carrots :)

To use the cheap like carrots TV module, we would have to build a wiring harness (loom) and remove all the seats to run the wires.

I don't think the tuner would work in the US unless it was Digital ATSC.

You mentioned in post #14 that it can also work with direct input to the ZAB but you need audio from the TV tuner. Is there a way around that?
