Honda gives up on selling Clarity in most US states

ha. the kids are actually really good soccer players (and of driving age but what is funny, they have no interest in driving). it was a charity drive and something about guessing the number of birdies.

UPDATE: It's now discontinued even for California. The Clarity EV will not be available in the USA at all beyond whatever stock remains to be cleared out. The hybrid soldiers on and the FCEV will continue to be available in California.

The EV market has moved on.
We now want our EVs to be full-sized pick-ups and SUVs.
If Honda can figure out how to stretch the Pilot to Suburban dimensions, and then slap a 500 mile battery underneath it, they will then have a hit on their hands.

Honda just needs to figure out how to get their EV and hybrid tech into good looking cars. The Insight is the best looking Civic. The Clarity is a CrossTour with extra doses of ugly. Build hybrid Pilots and CRVs and fire their car styling department.

I'm not sure I would say that it's because people want full size truck EVs, but the Honda Clarity EV had only an 89 mile rating in an age when even the slow-selling Leaf has 150 miles of range standard and 226 miles with the optional battery. Effectively, Honda was trying to sell an 89-mile car when 98% of the sales volume is 200+ miles of range EVs.
