I no longer have my wagon and now have a GTI Rabbit. I performed a full 8" glass screen conversion MIB2 with the felt-lined Euro glove box. I've been heavily contemplating ordering a euro-spec dynaudio kit with sub, amp and and speakers + harness to retrofit into the car. It's not cheap.

For now I've put in the OEM Helix subwoofer which does a pretty decent job of boosting the stock radio speakers due to the DSP amp built into the sub.

I played around with this last night, and was able to get it to work. A couple of things:

-you have to also go into the Information Module (5F) and change the coding there as well (can't actually remember which car I used, but long coding is done for most of them-I think I used the other Golf Variant in the long coding helper). Without doing this, the menus didn't come up.

-this mod only makes sense if you're also changing out the speakers as well.

As far as the differences between the Dynaudio and the Fender systems, the hardware of the amp is the same, but the DSP obviously has multiple profiles stored in it. This mod allows you to access those profiles. The speakers are, in fact, different (Dynaudio in the Dyn set-up, Panasonic in the Fender set-up).

The reason I wouldn't recommend this if you're running the Fender system is that the Fender/Panasonic speakers are different, so the signal being sent to them is not the same. The mid-bass drivers likely do not not have the same frequency response, and the tweeters are 2 Ohm in the Fender system and 4 Ohm in the Dynaudio. It's immediately noticeable that the tweeters are louder after setting the Fender system to Dynaudio (too loud). In short, this is a great mod if you're looking to swap out the speakers from the Fender system (or if you're looking to add the Dyn's to the base, which is way more work since you need to run the harnesses). If you're running the Fender speakers, you're best off keeping the profile set to the system for which it was designed.
I know this is an old post, but I’m actually doing this retrofit within the next month, just waiting on parts. There’s additional coding that needs to be done in order to get the Dynaudio sound character/focus settings to work, which I will post once I have it complete. These settings will work on the Fender system if coded correctly.

You can recode your Fender system to Dynaudio if you wish. The reason you’re “hearing the tweeter louder” when you recode it to Dynaudio, is because you’re hearing the way Dynaudio tunes their soundstage. The Fender soundstage is pretty much non-existent, Dynaudio tunes it much better.

The Dynaudio tweeters are indeed 4ohm instead of 2ohm, however, the way you’re thinking of it is actually incorrect (backwards). 4ohm means the tweeters will draw less power than 2ohm tweeters, as Dynaudio always sends more power to the woofers and less power to the tweeters. This allows more power to be reserved for the woofers, where the power is actually needed.

Very interested to see what you did!

I've started a thread about it! Will be posting all updates in regards to this retrofit, here
