My boss went yesterday, he says they had an A5 Golf on rotating display. Can anyone confirm?
I had to work this weekend, so I couldn't go. I assumed this year's show would suck like last year's, so I wasn't planning on it anyway.
But now I heard this...

BTW, he also said Chevy had 1/3 of the floor space there

It seems their "renaissance" ad campaign is catching on!

Re: Golf-V at SLC auto show? (Helicon Twist)

Nope. No MKV. They had the Phaeton, which was cooler than I xpected. Audi had and RS6 and S4 Avant.
Volvo had a new S40 which was very hot, IMHO.
Oh yeah Ferrari had an ENZO.

This thing was hotter than I ever imagined and a lot smaller. I think there is only somewhere around 80 of them in N. America. And something like $650K.
Love all auto shows, def. worth $5 lowsy bucks.

No MKV, or the R32.

But I did enjoy looking at all the other cars.
You should have seen all the people hanging out around the 350Z, Mustang Cobra, STi, and the Evo. It was funny to see the people, that sound like they nothing about these except they hear they are fast. Not to mention it was kind of harsh watching all the people lean against, tap on, and all around mess up some very nice cars. I told a kid sitting in the STi, shifting between gears that he is going to mess up the tranny. He looks at me and goes, no I'm not this doesn't hurt anything, it's not running you don't need to use the clutch.

Plus, why do people let their 5 year old kids climb all over a 35k+ Audi, pull on things inside the car, and do whatever they want. I swear, no one has respect for others property, that and some of these beutiful cars were just getting destroyed.

That Enzo belongs to what's his name Bullock from Provo. His father has a great car collection (including a 007 Austin with machine guns in the fenders). It was the car used for the Road & Track feature. The article had some cool photos taken on the salt flats and near Escalante. I heard that he paid $1.3M.

I saw a rather large child repeatedly opening and then slamming shut the boot on the Spice Red '04 Jetta 1.8t. I wanted to stuff him in the trunk, and then kick his parents butts for having him.
Good show though. The Phaeton was better than I thought it would be. sweet http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Thats why they don't have those cars there.. They know car shows like we just had were these little dinky 5 dollar shows that eveyone and their mullet comes to and they don't want their nicer cars (R32, MKV's)to be destroyed.. They understand and accept the possiblilitys of the little sh*t bricks that are probably gonna f'k something up with their cars.. Thats why all the exotics are chained up 8 feet away from the all the whiney little fk's that have no respect

Just found out last night that even if you have the 1million+$ for an Enzo. You still can get one unless you've previously owned an F40 and F50
Image
And you have to be picked of the list by Ferrari. So really your damn lucky if you can get one of these. Total #'s produced are something like 399 and yes like 80 or so inthe states. The Enzo is top of the line, without a doubt

Heh looks like I'm not the only one who watched Rides. Cool show. I just can't believe someone bought an Enzo and then put some crappy Giovanna's on it.

I thought the show was disappointing. The Phaeton was pretty cool, but I dont see it having a prosperous future. When I was looking (/sitting in it) at it, almost every person that stopped by said something scathing about VW building a $74k luxury car. Good thing it wasnt the W12....or those folks would have been really shocked.
The volvo S40 was really hot....good lord. I had to check it out. Those short overhangs gave me more wood than most of the other cars in the show.
The SRT10 Ram was pretty cool.....but only because of the viper drivetrain attached to it.
If I remember correctly, wasnt there an A8L at the show? It was locked...I was pissed.
