I've spent the last 8 yrs meticulously waxing my car and keeping it clean.
I've opted to complete every service at VW per the OEM maintenance schedule.
I've also opted to complete every recommended service in addition to standard maintenance.
I've done all of this in hopes of having a gem that looked as good the day I bought it, 10 years into ownership.
With all that being said, each and every single door has rust bubbling up from behind the door moldings, quickly spreading on the door panels. Seems like every couple months I looks at it, is worse than it was before.
Considering it's rotting from the inside out, there is no way this was caused by any wrong doing or even rock chips etc. Seems like the adhesive behind the molding holds water eternally like a sponge - poor choice of material from VW. My last car was a Jetta TREK, 20+ yrs old without a spec of rust on the outside of the body...
Does anyone know if VW is doing anything to address this? Do I have any options? Why would I ever want to buy a new VW?
