There was a lot of speculation in the 911 Carrera T thread about whether or not the new Carrera S would have a manual and it turns out it doesn't.

It has just 5 fewer horsepower than the new GTS though I would expect the GTS to be quite a bit quicker with its hybrid drivetrain. The base price is up by about $15k to $148,395. More leather and the previously optional sport exhaust are now standard though.

Whelp, cements my want of a T then. Unfortunately, probably also cements the T as pseudo-unobtanium/ADM fodder.
The cars get better and better the prices seem to always just stretch past what I am comfortable spending. Then the dealer games

I just hope they keep cranking out excellent cars so that some day, a 2018 GT3 might be obtainable LOL

I saw that the S was on the configurator last night and wondered if I missed a post! Looks like I didn't. At this point in time, if I can't afford a manual GT3 (which I can't), I'm going for a Cayman 4.0.
This is quickly becoming the choice for people that want that "old-school" Porsche 911 experience with a manual. One guy I know that COULD afford a GT3 got a Cayman GT4 manual instead - granted he has a couple of air cooled 911's as well, so he really is looking for a certain kind of experience.

The price is so high that why even care anymore at this point? Unless you're a doctor, lawyer, or a software engineer, it's a no-go

A new 911 used to be somewhat aspirational to me, but now they're so expensive that I'll lead my boring existence without one. Hell, my dream Porsche, a 993 Carrera 4S, is a $90,000+ car with 70,000 miles on it.

As a doctor, this car doesn't make much sense to me. If I want a fast automatic 911, i'm buying a lightly used 992.1 turbo with the hips and the big boy engine. If I want a manuel, i'm buying a T or saving for a GT3.

I meant the 911 lineup in general. Granted, I know that adjusted for inflation, the 911 is probably priced where it "should be," but it just doesn't sit right with me :D

I'm not just a software engineer... I'm a SENIOR SOFTWARE F'N ARCHITECT... I must be working for the wrong company as I can't even bring myself to order a base 718 let alone a 911 S! :D

Lol, I was thinking of a buddy of mine that went to work for Microsoft fresh out of college in ‘01 and he has to be pulling down $200k a year at least by now. I think he’s some kind of lead project manager or department head or something big-wiggy.
