last sunday on my way to auto-xing, something f***ed up in my engine compartment...it makes a loud thump when i drive a bit harder then a grandma...
at first i thought it was an engine mount the one on the passenger side rear...i changed that today and its a little better (i guess cause my old engine mount needed replacing) but its still does it....im out of ideas....
have any of guys had similar problems, oh ya the car is a 90 g60, and it seems the thumping is comming from the passenger side.....
thanks

Re: G60 problems!!! (V-TEC this!!!)

Check your front mount, and the bracket. The thumping comes from your passenger side because that's where the supercharger is, and that's what's hitting the inside of your hood. Take a look at it.

What about when tapping the gas sharply?
Think about the physics involved. That engine weighs a lot. When my front mount bracket let go I still couldn't rock the engine by hand. That doesn't mean it won't buck like crazy under its own torque, which is quite a lot more than you'll be able to muster. And it will only happen when shifting gears - using the clutch - and hitting the gas suddenly.
Look for paint on the supercharger or alternator, or any scars on the underside of the hood directly above them. Seriously.

Re: G60 problems!!! (V-TEC this!!!)

my front motor mount bracket is broken, and my car thumps when i go over bumps or switch gears over 3k
get a flashlight and point it down between the motor and the fan
you'll see the bracket
see if you can see any noticable cracks
i can see that mine is cracked

Re: G60 problems!!! (V-TEC this!!!)

2 things:
You can put a jack under your engine and lift it a little (make sure to use a block of wood or something). If your mount is broken there's a good chance you'll be able to tell by doing this.
Find an open parking lot, open the hood, and have a friend watch the engine compartment while you let out the clutch (make sure they're not standing in front of the car of course). This is how we found the broken motor mount on my friend's GTI. I couldn't tell it was broken until I did this, but as soon as I let out the clutch, the engine jumped nearly a foot out of the engine bay. It was kinda cool actually considering it wasn't my car.

If you just put the e-brake on then rev the engine a bit ..If you look under the hood (duh) at the same time you'll see if the problem lies in the mount.. It'll jump. And it's safer to do with the brake on... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
I was also thinking maybe control arm bushings??? Just a thought..

....drive it like you stole it.....then deal with the consequences!!!!

I guess a busted engine mount bracket is one of those consequences???
178k and counting on my first mount brackets (second mounts inside all the brackets). I got interior stuff falling apart...
