I have an 84 rabbit with just an aftermarket fuel pump, it had an aftermarket fuel filter that I removed today. It ran much better after doing this. I was wondering if it is necessary to have an accumulator or can I run it as is. Is there a one way valve I could use to keep pressure in the line? Any suggestions welcome.

Re: fuel sys question (dalawana)

i'm pretty sure that my accumulator doesn't work. i think that when you take off the gass cap you should hear the pressure release, but it never happens on my car. works fine, and starts right up everytime.
but i would never run the car without fuel filter!!!!!!!!

If you have trouble cold starting your car - then you may have a problem with your accumulator - this maintains fuel vapor pressure to the system - but I believe you have a warm-up regulator so this may be still possible to do w/o but I know my accumulator doesn't work and its hesitates occasionally
