That was his entry into one of the major Hot Rod shows that he took first with.
I had my doubt about the flames too, but they turned out really well. The whole thing worked because they were using styling cues from classic roadsters. The intrument panel, taillights, headlights, license plate frame and styling was not in the ultra-modern style; perhaps some of you noticed how the rear tires weren't excessively wide? It was a truly beautiful machine.
FYI: When the engine was first turned over it wasn't timed. Hence why it didn't sound as good. I have no doubt it sounds awesome in person.

I have a new respect for Deuce Coupes now. What a great show. If I was building one I would be a bit different and put either the RS6 twin turbo V8, or for a little less money maybe a twin turbo 3.2 VR6 with DSG from the TT. I can dream can't I.
