I thought about getting all the pre STage 3 stuff and THEN getting the turbo upgrade - but is it just quicker to get a turbo upgrade?
pre stage stuff like ECU, Exaust, turbo intake, e.t.c e.t.c

Re: GOAL HP 240hp - quickest way to get there? (RipperMan)

"Stage 3" is a name given to a kit that APR produces; not a general name given to a turbo upgrade on a 1.8T. I'm not sure if you knew this or not. There are many ways to 240 hp. The easiest way if you don't know much about tuning the 1.8T would probably be the APR stage 3 kit; this would be one of the more expensive routes though. ATP stage 2 kit would probably get you there as well for a little less money. When you get an ECU upgrade it is not the "stage 3" program that they are installing; it is a program for the stock turbo. there is no real "stage" 1,2, and 3 that describes a level of upgrades on your car. If you said, "I have all of the stage 2 upgrades now." people would think WTF is he talking about exactly? This isn't need for speed underground

If you would like to do things in a very smart way you may consider this route:
First: Exhaust, Front Mounted Intercooler, Upgraded Clutch, Upgraded Axles, Limited Slip Differential, Stiffer motor/tranny mounts, and perhaps suspension upgrades. Oh and a huge aluminium wing!JK

Second: Turbo upgrade, be it an APR, ATP, or custom.
This would be an expensive although very intelligent approach. It would also eliminate little expenses that you don't necessarily need such as an ECU upgrade for the stock turbo and Intake.

quickest and easiest way is to get a zex kit, or other nitrous kit, for you car and run a 85-100 shot. you can get the kit for 400-500 and you meet your goal. If you want real power, then go for the tubo upgrade

Re: GOAL HP 240hp - quickest way to get there? (tazUSC)

If you meant 240 wheel horsepower then i'd look into an atp stg2 kit. the apr stg 3 will get you 280whp+ and a company called dubwerks has a kit VERY close to coming out that will be on the same level as the apr stg 3......high to mid 12 second car
if you want 240 hp at the crank then a chip, downpipe, exhaust will get you there. 240crank hp will be right around 200 whp.....with that setup low 14's high 13's are achievable if you can drive.

the QUICKEST way would be trading your car for something like a mustang or camaro. should be able to get that done this afternoon if you wanted

nice,,this made me chuckle

If you want wheel power (if you don't have a KO3 Sport equipped car, I'd get the NeuSpeed or APR KO4 upgrades), I'd do EVERY (and I mean EVERY) SINGLE bolt-on part you can find, with the most radical programming you can get your car to accept. That should get you to your goal.

the ko4 is garbage and neuspeed sell the worst performance crap for our cars.....overpriced and doesnt get you much(hp/trq wise). if your going to spend money on a turbo upgrade....do a REAL(gt28/gt28rs/t3/t4 etc) turbo upgrade. Not something that gets your 10-15 hp more then a ko3sport will get you

K, thats why eurotuner gave the NEW NeuSpeed KO4/kinetic kit, rave reviews (and those guys love to whine about the stupidest little things)

Also, I don't know if you missed the part where I said "...if you don't have a KO3 Sport equipped car..."

W/E, its not a big deal to me, I didn't post here to start an argument.
But, everyone who is telling this kid to go with a GT-series kit, is failing to add the fact that his driveline will most likely not tolerate the abuse generated by the bigger turbo, that is unless he runs low, low boost, which makes the upgrade even less worthwhile.
For the cost of a big turbo upgrade, plus the cost of the bolt-ons he'd have to add to the kit to make it work right, he'll make it right around his goal, in basic bolt-ons, albeit, a lot of them, but bolt-ons nonetheless, and the stock turbo.

I dont know what you are basing your info on but i doubt its experience...that being said im running the ATP stage II at around 20psi and its 251whp...so a lil less boost and you have your 240whp goal...and dont think for a second you can get 240wheel reliably from a ko4...no amount of bolt ons will give you this.... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

i agree and i dont.......i hate Nitrous....but you cant call it fake power
Image
Its a power adder...Just like your power adder is a Turbo...and just like other cars power adders are blower/sc....
If you want real power...All n/a baby

Brute force!!!!!wahoo!!!!!

now i might be takeing ur post the wrong way...as in if you want real power as in way way way more power go with the Turbo upgrade...then agian i could be wrong

I personally dont see the K04 as wise choice as a turbo upgrade. Your only talking 10-15 HP over a K03sport. Do a poll and i'll be shocked if the k04 doesnt come up dead last.

The only driveline upgrade you need with a GT or other turbo is a clutch, pressure plate setup. Axles are really only needed if you plan on drag racing and really wanna beat the hell out of it.
Nitrous is more of a drag racing setup to me. I have nothing wrong with it when setup correctly used at correct RPM and a sane shot(50shot Tops)it's very effective. Bang for the buck it's impossible to beat nitrous. It very hard on an engine because of the instantaneous power load it creates vs a smooth linear fassion with turbo's, SC, NA motors.

Sounds like this guy just wants the regular Ko3sport with a chip and some bolt ons.

Re: GOAL HP 240hp - quickest way to get there? (RABIDRABBIT1983)

thanks for allt he info

I have got my own Stage 1 - 2 - 3 set up thats wha ti was refering too..sorry neglected to mention that.
I am talking rela power i think - the stuff that can be listed on the document info like - my car is 180hp, the R32 is 240hp - THAT hp - not sure if thats WHP or Crank HP - or at the whell horse power - or real horse power - whatever u want to call it lol.
anyway - the first thing i am sticking on is a Turbo Back exaust - probably GHL 3" - stainless steal - i could ge t a 3 inch anodized alumiunium one - custom made here for $550 but thats crap..good quality one - but still i want stainless steel for obivous reasons, stronger better longer.
Going to then ofcourse get a new turbo intake and intercooler pipe - i think i am getting a neuspeed one.
I will have my webiste up soon - its 95% done - i will post the link in here and u guy can debate over my choice of parts if u like ;-)
