I have an '04 Jetta 1.8T and a friend of mine suggested that I put on a Bosch 710n DV (from Audi TT) to replace VW's OEM DV, as the OEM one can leak boost with wear. What are the potential advantages/disadvantages to doing this? Has anyone here done it on their turbo? I wanna get the facts before I spend $40+ of money I don't have very often.

Re: Aftermarket Diverter Valve (Davezilla)

There are unspecific plans for returning the corrado.
Got the info from a german guy at VW.
TT diverter is worth it...
plus it's easy to replace. I got less surge from this. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Stock you do NOT have a 710N. It is close, but the material making up the diaphram is a thicker, weaker substance. Tests performed by enthusiasts have revealed that the stock 1.8T DV's diaphram tears much more easily, so therefore has a higher propensity to leak boost.
P.S.- Nice name

Holy cow...never mind...I don't have the money to buy one of the expensive ones...lol. Maybe I'll just forego this altogether.

u shouldn't really consider it "one of those expensive ones"... forge and stratmosphere are the norm around here.

a new dv won't give you power per se, it will just hold on to boost better than a damaged one. the more expensive ones are usually piston tyle valves, while the stock and 710N dv are of the diaphragm type that can tear after time and under stress.

They may be the norm for you guys, but I'm poor. I have $40 in my wallet right now and it's the most that's been in there for a long time...

well i'm sorry to hear that. but u can always go the alternative route and make the "psssh" sound with your mouth each time u shift... jk
btw how did u afford the Jetta then, if u don't mind me asking?
