Already in the process of doing that.
But really we shouldn't have to modify our cars to prevent a factory design flaw from making our stuff vanish.
People pay for an alarm, it should protect against unauthorized entry, not play possum.

have your lock removed and get a passenger side lock cover from the dealer and get it painted

Could you explain this a little further? Sorry for any trouble, just not sure what you mean by 'passenger side lock cover' as my passenger side has no lock. If you mean changing out the door handles to one like the passenger that has no lock, then I get it. I understand I would have to rely on my keyless entry to get in the car, tho.

why not go with a s&w 4006 with 3 - 11 round clips fully loaded hallow points. Just had to throw my $.02 worth.

Cuz if your in a situation where you need to shoot at someone more than 11 times you:
1. Have already lost
2. Need to learn how to shoot

It's not the whole door handle, it's only the plastic cap that covers where the lock should be. Cost me $5.38 CDN to get one, plus paint.

Hmmmm.... got any more info on these 'caps'? ie: where to get them, pics, application, etc. Tried using the search but couldn't find anything. Does this cap just pop off if you decide to use a valet key? Or is it attached on there really well somehow so theives can't remove it? Otherwise, you'd think it would be a useless application.

Holy crap, Benellis, Sigs, H&Ks, AKs. Is this Counter-strike hour in the PNW boards?

haha, sorry. I'm going shooting this weekend and I'm kinda anxious. I just fixed my Remington and can't wait to play with it again

Re: Any way to stop people with screwdrivers from turning off my alarm? (Xanthazar)

Xanth, you guys should know all about the crappy design that VW likes to make for their door handles. Remember the Mk2? All you need to get into them is a hammer, and I am not talking about the glass. You would think that they would figure something out when half of the aftermarket makes Armour Door Plates!

Ok update - I tore into it with the pliers today and threw the cap on. Like I said before, I'd do pics but my camera went home with some other guy.
It's just a plastic cap, I had to use a rubber mallet to smack it in place, so it's not going to come out too easily. Basically there are two posts that clip into place. I had to use a screwdriver and pliers to get the old one out.
Apparently the whole lock was turning counterclockwise, not just an outermost ring. It's all broken to hell. Oh well.
Where to get: Dealership.
Part number: ?? I think the invoice is still in my car. Just go to the parts counter and ask for it the part, I think it's part number 25 on the exploded diagram for the door handle.

That sucks
vws are way too easy to get in to,
i found out the hard way when a guy emptied out my hatch in less than a minute, on my mk3 gti. all he did was pull the license plate tub out
got a skateboard, a camera, pair of new shoes, snowboard jacket, my back pack,
and about 60 cds,
this was in the time of me walking in to a grocery store, buying a gallon of milk, and a eurotuner and walking back out.....................
for some reason the alarm didnt go off eather
