GOLF V Coming to Canada? WHEN?!?!?

I like the look and can hardly wait to see them here. But there are some that don't like it, feeling it looks to much like a Civic. The same thoughts were towards the MKIV when it was first shown.
I don't think we'll see it here til 2005....

Considering how badly the current Civic SiR hatch has bombed in Canada, you've really got to wonder if the Golf V will meet with similar fate here.

Some do talk about the small car trend here in Canada, and don't forget about the previous generations of the Golf, that sold quite solidly. Also it's a tougher market especially with the Mazda3 which is definately much cheaper than the Golf mk5. It did get good reviews back in Europe though, but knowing us North Americans, anything can happen.
Look at the Aztec or CTS or element.

I don't think it will be the greatest debut of the year, but will grow over time. Hopefully VW makes the pricing a little more competitive than usual.

Well that's news to me, are you sure the GTI is coming in the Spring not the fall? Do you know if we'll get the 3.2VR6 with DSG right off the bat?

Word has it that we will be seeing the Audi A3 here, but only in the 5DR version....

actually there is a dealer in miami saying that the 5 doors will be arriving in october/november and the 3 doors will probably follow in the summer as an 06

Sorry! guys, if looking for the golf? Might as well wait fot the Audi A3.
At least I got FULL Warranty cover. Price I think more or less close.
Don't get me wrong I love VW.

It is coming next Year as 2005 model, 5 door version , 3 door will be exclusive to GTI only, and then at the same time Audi A3 5 - door version will come as well, Audi so far is bringing 1.8t and 3.2, vw probably the same and TDI engine, Lupo or Polo one of them is coming as base entry model to compete in lower end..
sale is Europe for VW golf V were bad, people didn't like it much as previous models, hopefully it won't met the same fate.. or at least VW of Canada price it right in the market otherwise it won't be a good seller, it would be nice if they include more color choices and options that you can select without packages

From my last chats with dealer folks elsewhere, it was my understanding that this is what Cdn folks are getting:
1. GTI only, no Golf
2. Audi A3, 5 door only
3. A Golf 'plus', ala Toyota Matrix type vehicle

I hope it doesnt come here...its uglier than the mk4's....why cant VW go back to their roots like ford and other companies are doing...make a retro styled golf based on the looks of the best golfs ever mk1 or mk2.....these futuristic honda copies suck....

Golf due in early to mid '05.
GTI due in early '06.
