Re: Mysterious Coolant loss (Fire32NJetta)

you don't get a sweet smell up around the radiator or anything? I had a slow leak for a month or two, and you never saw it on the ground because it only seeped when the water was flowing. Turned out my radiator was cracked.

Re: Mysterious Coolant loss (punkassjim)

I had the same problem, you would never see a puddle on the ground or anything, but as the car warmed up, and pressure built in the system, it would start pissing out of the bottom of the radiator. Small crack.

Re: (Fire32NJetta)

1st check under the cap for white foamy stuff if not check by the t stat flange cause when theres a leak around there u wont see it because the coolant evaporates very quick when the motor is running good luck i just went thru hell trying to figure mine out unforunetly i t was a head gasket

Re: Mysterious Coolant loss (Fire32NJetta)

Had the same problem with my VR6. I had it pressure tested and was told it was all good. So I decidid to investigate myself.
Turned out it was my reservoir. The G11 was slowely pushing its way through where the two peices of the reservoir meet. What I did to discover this problem:
Drove the car till I smelt something, then I popped the hood with engine running and gave a thourough search, and there it was leeking out @ the back of the reservoir.
All I did was apoxy it up, and that was that.

I had a similiar problem. It was the coolant flange. From what I hear this is very common.

I had the same problem http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Mysterious Coolant loss (zx6-guy29)

My problem turned out to be the coolant flange ($12). Just stick your finger under the flange and if it comes off wet, then that's your problem. This business of having moisture on your dipstick is another matter altogether.

Re: Mysterious Coolant loss (glohworm)

Had a similar problem on my VR also...
Turned out after thorough investigating I had to replace this cluster of hoses that runs to your coolant reservoir, in the shape of a 'T'. Set me back around $160 at the stealership WITH a tech discount. Never saw a leak per se, almost like it was "evaporating" out of the tubing.
Whoops... this is Samantha BTW... didn't know i was logged on Johnny's name.
