.. the rear doesn't seem lowered at all
Image

The front came down about an inch from 26 3/4 to 26, which I expected, but the rear is still at 27! I remember the rear being lower than 27 when I just had the Eibach springs + stock shocks on, but now that I have both Eibach shocks + springs it's like it went back up to stock height??
I'm measuring from the ground to the top of the wheel well gap. For comparison, I measured a stock GTI w/ sport suspension and the rear height is 27 inches. Maybe the auto shop guy screwed something up? Switched parts on me?

Re: Got my Eibach Springs + Dampers put on and .. (mr.eddie)

The 'tard probabally didn't cut the bump stops. Thats what happened when i had mine droped with Eibach Sportlines, so i buy the Spax only to find out it was the bumpstops not being cut that resulted in it not being low enough. i put in thew Spax anyways and it was SLAMMED, check by looking in the rear wheel well and seeing if the bumpstop has been cut. Hope this helps.

Re: Got my Eibach Springs + Dampers put on and .. (DubinBuffalo)

I found out that he cut 1/4" off the bump stop in the front, and didn't cut any for the rear. He said he didn't cut the rear because if he did the shock (i guess) wouldn't fit over the dust boot. Aren't bump stops usually cut a fairly equal amount for both front and rear? I'm gonna call Eibach about this tommorow.

the shock not fitting "over" the dust boot? doesn't sound right. The bump stops are just to stop bottoming out, so how can they cause the height to be raised unless they travel the entire length of the rod? Does your rear end feel like it is really friggin hard?

Re: Got my Eibach Springs + Dampers put on and .. (Retro)

I just called Eibach and they say the bump stops actually wouldn't affect the amount of lowering. They did however say that the rear springs were probably not installed correctly. The side of the spring that has more coils should be placed facing towards the rear of the car. He mentioned that it's something specific for our VWs. Back to the shop i guess.

I will have to check that out on mine. My buddy was just telling me yesterday that the rear looks way higher than the front. Looks fine to me. When I did the install everything went in fine and seated properly, but I will take a look today when I am putting on the sway bar.

Re: Got my Eibach Springs + Dampers put on and .. (keegan)

The rear springs weren't aligned properly - one of them was rotated like 180 degrees the wrong way. I thought that they did look strange when I took a peek under the car. The top coil of the springs didn't look flush against the bottom of the car. So now that's fixed. The front springs were installed ok, because there's only one way to put the spring in the perch of the front shocks.
I also had the rear bump stops cut too. Just the large top ring portion of it. There wasn't alot of travel for the shock before it was cut.
So now the front is down 1" from stock to 25 3/4", and the rear is down 1/4" to 26 3/4". There's still some settling for it, but probably not much. I don't think I'll be getting the assumed 1.2" F/R drop. I wonder if anyone is getting that low with the Pro-System on a GTI. Probably only on the Jetta's or Passat's.

Re: Got my Eibach Springs + Dampers put on and .. (VaaRoooom 6)

I posted this on the same thread in the MK4 forum.
I also have the pro dampers and springs; front 25 3/4 & rear 26 3/8. The Dampers are low pressure gas and will not raise the car even when new. My springs settled about ~1/8-1/4 inch only. I'm not happy with the front spring perch fitment, makes the springs rattle sometimes, sound like a loose heatshield. It has been verified by several techs. Eibach has not given me a firm solution it's been more than a month ago http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Sorry, no pics yet. Haven't gotten around to buying a digital cam.

The front is down to 25 1/2 now. Rear is 26 3/4. Ride seems fine so far. Just hope the rear settles some more. Otherwise i'll just have to live with the raked look.

Try keeping your gas tank full. This will drop the rear end a bit. It should lower the back the same as the front. I'm running the pro-kit with OEM struts though.
