All this talk recently of electric superchargers/intake fans and compressed air augmentation has got me really thinking. What do you guys think?
I know many of you are tired of paying 5 dollars or more for spark plugs. I'm working on an idea where I could modify some welding torch strikers to run off the camshaft. I mean, why waste the money on an MSD and nice plug wires? I'd like to put a flint striker in place of each spark plug, and have it run off the cam shaft. It could be timed so that so many degrees after the intake valve closes the flint is struck. Cool eh? Anyone tried this before?
Also, I was thinking of ditching my turbo and replacing it with some of those bellows things you see in old cabins for getting the fire to burn hotter in the fireplace. All you have to do is run a belt to a pully that is connected to a crank. As the crank rotates it will pump the bellows up and down. Boost pressure would be set by changing the pulley size.
You got a 50 trim? My shizz is leather trimmed biatch!

Re: Revolutionary new Forced Induction ideas (BoostedOne)

I've always wanted to have a steam turbine/charger. The wood heats the water, water turns to steam and the steam turns the turbine (being connected to the compressor) creates boost.
Hell, lets get rid of the internal combustion engine and run steam! The instant torque of steam is great too!! I bet the 1/4 mile would be alot more alot more interesting with steam powered dragsters.

You know, I thought of something like this too. I really did, but I didnt want to seem like I was "out there". Similar to your idea, but ditch the exhaust manifold and replace it with a miniature boiler. All you need is a big box with a bunch of water tubes running through it. Then you need a feed pump to ciculate the water. Then you could blow the steam over a turbo's turbine that is remote mounted.
All the benefits of turbo, with no back pressure...

Guys, you better keep this on the down-low... American Products Company is known to hide out on these forums trolling for ideas to steal....

yea then your ideas would be ruined with cheap plastic, blinking lights, and big graphics.

Re: (veedub11)

Personally, Id like to see an animal powered turbo set up. You see, you have a wheel (hamster comes to mind) with a belt attached to a fairly large wheel and as the animal runs, the belts turn a smaller wheel attached to a turbine (you know, to get the gearing right). The only draw back is, its not free Hp, because you have to keep buying cheese to propell the hamster. You could also use a dude on a bike....

That would be my plan if I was doing this to a EuroVan.
Where is GodSquadMandrake? His input would be invaluable right about now.
You think it would help to put some B12 vitamins in the gas tank??

Oh man, this is getting good. If it were a dude on a bike, like I previously mentioned, you could have the chain to the turbine runing off the bike gears, so when you want more boost, you just have him push in his shimano gear changer and go to town.....Granny gear would be for daily driving and crank it up the the femur braking gear for track use.

i think you need to stop thinking, and start doing!

thats why you buy 99 cent autolite spark plugs, and laugh at the suckers paying 5$ for each plug, and the fools paying 5 bucks per quart of oil!

thats why you simply dont waste the money. Buy wires like magnacore wires that cost like 40$, and last well over 100k miles. How cheap are you?

no. the reason is you will blow the welds off your intake manifold!

seriously, you cant ignite the mix in the intake, it has to be ignited in the combustion chamber, while the valves are closed, and everything is sealed. how you gonna do this with flint stones or whentever spinning around???

this is simply rediculous. a natually aspirated motor flows more CFM's than one of thoes antique air bellows can flow with any pulley youu strap onto it.
go back to the drawing board.

LOL Speed....Have you tried it? Dont tell me it cant be done then!
Am I serious? Look at any of my posts on any thread except for this one and tell me.
I like your ideas Heezy. For the high dollar guys they can use Campagnolo stuff though.

BTW, Im the guy with a running turbo car, not the one with 100lbs of aluminum chips on the floor under the mill from each part thats hand fabbed to go on the car:)
BTW2, Im also the guy running $1.29 Bosch Super plugs

And while you're at it...
why not get some hamsters from petstore along with rotating wheel ... and that would be like nawz...
you throw some food and they would run faster......

Re: Revolutionary new Forced Induction ideas (RedDevil)

I was thinking of just running the exhaust into the throttle body. Exhaust smells like gas so it could like burn more or something and since the exaust is blowing out and the throttle body would close at times, it would build boost and when you opened the throttle body, it would boost the engine. AND it would be a 100% emissions free engine.

but you gotta run that exhaust pipe / gasses thru your fmic... so u cool that charge, or else it will be slooow due to lack of air density...but i think your on to something....

Re: Revolutionary new Forced Induction ideas (GTIMAN99)

Well i'd prolly do a water/air intercooler and just run my radiator coolant from it cause then, the cold charge from the intake piping would chill my coolant too.
If I wanted to, I could have a blow-off valve blowing across a 1-liter Pepsi wide mouth bottle for a horn too... "Pssshhtt... whhoooommmmmm''

werrrd.... i think a glass coke bottle would provide a better...wwhooooooo sound tho..just a crisper sound, that will carry!

THO.... plastic is lighter...!

Re: Revolutionary new Forced Induction ideas (GTIMAN99)

Yea, my friend did that but his Super Type F Mega Valve blew across it so hard it like broke the glass... so we decided to try to drill the bottom of the bottle out to relieve pressure and we got cuts on our hands so the plastic one with 2.75" of Pepsi (not coke) poured in it works super good. I can install it for you if you want.
