Still not sure of the results, but man oh man, did I ever have a great time. My first run was a 69.xxx, second run was a 65xxx and i made a few inbetween, but the my last run that counted was 62.769. There was a Honda Civic with a B18, sway bars, cams and some other fancy stuff that ran .5 seconds better than me, his first time as well.
I swapped cars and got to drive an 04 Nissan Sentra Spec V, it was nice, as well as a Porsche 944 that I loved.

Re: My First Autocross (MattMarchand)

Matt,
The suspension is Boge Turbo's with h&r sports. Engine has g-grind cam with tt 2 inch exhaust, i was running toyo proxes with neutral camber, which i think hurt my chances.
Had a great time still, i was so nervous during my first run, but afterwards i couldn't stop smiling, it was great.

Re: (MattMarchand)

Nice, i have the FF in there right now, i was in second the whole time, which was adequate for pretty much the whole course, exept for coming out of a box like this where you're going 80ish and have to slow down for that, other than that, it's great

Re: My First Autocross (kobidge)

Mats,
Autocross is basically just a pylon course that you have to run to see who is the fastest. It is usually brokeun up into divisions, but that doesn't apply in my town, more than likely because of our small size.
Check out http://www.solo2.org or maybe SCCA Solo 2
Kobidge,
My car handled alright, but i had lots of understeer i think, or i was just going to fast for the car to turn properly. My tire pressure was maxxed at 44 psi and i was still rolling on to the sidewalls. My camber was very neutral, next time i'm going to try about negative 1-1.5 degrees to try and help.
I think it's all in your suspension set up. I was 5 tenths of a second off a civic with a b18 with cams, exhaust, msd. But he had sway bars and i didn't. You will also need a good tire, Toyo Proxes (which i have) or Falken Azeni's are pretty well known for autocross, but there are more out there. I have Boge Turbo shocks and H&R sports for suspension with no sway bars.
It is a great time, i definitely reccomend it to anyone who hasn't.

Still got a bit to go, the honda civic i listed was a guest, so i guess he didn't get listed. He is the black one in the pictures, the civic listed on the results is a red one.

Sounds like a pretty nice setup. I would just add the largest rear sway bar you can and a front CROSSMEMBER brace. not a sway in front. By leaving the sway off in the front and beafing up the back you will reduce your understeer and increase your oversteer (more like a rear drive car then) This will pull your ass end around quicker and get you faster corners (according to all the FWD gurus that I have talked to)
Last year i was at Wild West Rally here in washington and the product manager for H&R north america was there racing his 89 civic hatchback. He was running large rears and no front sway and said this was just the way to go in his mind. A lil technical talk later he had convinced me as well about FWD suspension setup.

Re: My First Autocross (kobidge)

15 inch wheels off of a B3 Passat, not sure of the width, i think 6 inches. 195/50/15, i was told tonight that i could run higher psi, but not too much higher, because 44 psi is only for street driving, and told me that i would most likely not warm my tires up enough to increase the pressure that much. He drives a camaro, and had 50 psi in his Radial T/A's while he said he only should have had about 32.

Re: My First Autocross (Cabby-Blitz)

It is the club car as well as the guy who runs the club that holds the autocross, so there was either an error or his wife drove it.
Carson, the guy who runs it, has 5 cars, a Volvo V70R, 3 Alfa's and the Spider.

I'm not too sure on the spring rates, they are H&R sports, maybe someone in the suspension forum would know.
