Just wondering if the r32 is good for a daily driver? I've got about a 30 minute drive to work each morning along a few nice back roads.. and don't want to be sucking up gas constantly. Anyone have any views on the cargo space.. etc? Thanks

even with the shs its fine. and the cargo space is deceiving. from the outside the car looks so small, but fold those rear seats down and you got tons of room.

yep.
Easy to average 20mpg and still have fun.
great in town, on highway or in the twisties
Not too expensive to insure
loads of room with the seats down and a rack up top.

I have a 25 mile commute that is over an hour to work and 35 minutes to get home. I wake up each morning and what makes me excited to go to work is driving in my .:R (even in traffic on the 405).

I commute 50 miles round trip in Northern NJ. I average about 22mpg. I've fit 15 bags of mulch in the car on a trip from Home Depot.
I had the same concerns as you before buying this car. This car is well worth it.

I have averaged 22mpg city on all but the first few tanks. 17 miles to work average 60mph speed limits. Cargo space? I can fit all my R/C racing stuff, a 4'x2' table, a chair in the back with the seats folded down. In fact, I bought this car only because it does fit all my racing stuff. And its FUN to drive. And reasonably fast for the money. And the interior is comfy and luxurious.

Re: 32 a good dd? (borajake)

I drive 45 miles round trip to work each day, mostly highway and I average 22-23 mpg. Better, quieter, funner than any VW I've ever owned....by a significant margin. The cargo space is about the same as my Mark III GTI, but there is one HUGE advantage over the Mark III that I have not seen brought up at all.
I have Neuspeed springs on my Mark III GTI VR6, which are stiffer than stock and the rear end drops to the ground whenever you put a good size load in the back. This causes the rear suspension to bottom out on even small bumps and the car handles like crap. It looks like crap with the nose in the air too. Reminds me of that Jetta on the internet with the plywood strapped to the roof. Anyway, the R32 stock rear springs are so much stiffer, that you can put 150 pounds in the trunk and almost forget it's there.
R32 is MUCH better at hauling stuff around....still trying to decide how to get a trailer hitch on it.

I do 100 a day round trip, Rt. 78. It's been said before, but some days, I go to work just to drive the .:R. I have a friend with a STi and one with an Mazdaspeed Protege, and they both wish they had my car as a daily driver. Get it with leather, its soooooo worth it.

It's an awesome daily driver. Most of use here use our R32's in that manner. If you have back roads with low traffic, then it's even more fun. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Same for me. 15 mile commute with 3 different routes. I look forward to it every morning and evening.
