I LOOVVEEEE my gli but I'm a bit bummed that because of my driveway, I'll never be able to lower my car.
Keep in mind in these pics I'm NOT EVEN IN THE CAR, so it would be even lower.

The GTI was lower, but the front lip was not NEARLY as low, so they counteracted eachother...

You can still lower your car. My Wolfsburg has a 4 Motion valance on it and it is sitting on H&R Race springs, and if you’re careful you can manage. Remember that stiffer springs/shocks reduce body roll and keep things more controllable. There are lots of dips and what-not here in UTah to deal with all the precipitation in the winter, but we manage to get around them. My brother’s 337 is on FK coils as low as they can go, and he even gets around without scraping, it just takes some balls and a little TLC. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (Grand Admiral Thrawn)

either try the 2x4 deal or just take more of an angle... you should see my driveway and I dropped my 20th.. with me outta the car with the drop I am about 1/2 an inch haha and when I angle it enough I am just fine.

Ouch!!

That sucks.....
I don't think backing it in will do any good.........he would still scrape when the front backs in.
I don't plan on lowering mine either for the same reason........its my daily driver and I couldn't live with myself if I scraped on a regular basis (I already have once!). And I can't afford to buy a new valence and get it painted every 6 months!

back it in??

If he backs it in, chances are, he has to back it out when he leaves. Not a lot of driveways give you enough space to turn your car completely around without driving onto your lawn or smashing into your house. Maybe his does, though.
My suggestion would be to just put a couple of wooden planks at the bottom of the driveway. When your front tires drive over the planks, you'll get another couple inches of clearance. Just make sure the planks are secured in someway.

Dude... you just made no sense... if you back the car up the driveway - your front end will be toward the street! Thus when you leave you will just pull forward down the driveway... however--- you will scrap on the street and not on the driveway with the angles still

Actually, it's you who seems to be confused. Think about it. Why is he backing in? Because he can't drive forward in. He has to go out the same way he came in. So if he goes in backwards, he has to come out backwards. Otherwise, if he goes forward out, he scrapes going out, which is exactly what he's trying to avoid.
Understand now?

Re: And this is why I can't lower my GLI :( (VTECeateR)

Go to Home Depot and pick up a couple bags of Black Top (the black tar stuff they use to patch up pot holes) and make yourself a ramp at the lower part of the driveway where it connects to the street.
I had to do this when I had my Acura Integra and it worked like a charm. Only cost about $16 for 2 bags but I only needed one since my driveway is not as wide as yours. They sell a square "beater" tool also so that you can pound the Black Top flat.
