Re: Reminder to sign up for BMW's Drive for the Cure (Mencius01)

This is a fun way to raise money for an excellent cause! I've done it for the past 3 years, and will be doing it again this year! My record was 6 cars in one afternoon- from a 325iX to a 760iL ... and it's also a great way to sample the entire BMW lineup in a way that you normally couldn't.
You also learn first-hand how *&#(^($^ frustrating I-drive is in a 745!

I think min age is 21 w/ a valid driver's license
They usually have a set route that you drive, however long that takes.
Last time I did it no salesperson came with you on the drive (this is different from a test drive. sorta. depending on how you interpret 'test drive' and 'different

).
The cars are stickered up w/ the pink ribbon for the susan b. komen foundation, and they look at your odometer reading (before and after) to make sure you did drive the distance (and possibly no more) ...

^ Crud.
I was hoping that you get the car for an hour and can put on as many miles as you can (isn't the point of this to build up mileage

)
And I was planning on picking up my gf at the trainstation during my 5:00pm test drive...pimping a 7-sizzle

Ohwell, thanks for the info, maybe it will be different for me.

The BMW Driver for a Cure is usually for about a 10 minute drive for each car you take out, maybe 15-20 minutes.
If you're gone for an hour, they'll be pissed.

Oh okay.
I assumed that it went hourly because you can only schedule the two test drives by the hour (according to the website when you sign up).

This is my third year doing this event and it was fun as usual. It is for a great cause, I encourage anyone who can attend to do it.
This is what I drove this year:
(In order of my favorite to my least favorite.)
1. 330i 6MT Performance Package (2 Times)
2. 545i 6MT Sport (3 Times)
3. 525i 6MT Sport (Once)
4. 745i Steptronic (Once)
4. 530i SMG (Once)
5. Z4 3.0i Steptronic (Once)
6. X5 4.4i Steptronic (Once)
The drive for my city was a 13.5 mile loop that took around 15 minutes or so.

How do you guys drive all those cars? It only allows me to reserve two test drives...

Basically, while you are waiting for your reserved car, you can drive any car that is not being driven. Even after you drive your reserved cars, you can keep on driving as long as you want, until you get tired.
Image

Most of the people that show up don't have any reservations. If you have not before, make sure and drive the 330i ZHP. Almost everyone, including the transport drivers thought is the most fun car at the event. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

When does this happen... registration for my area isn't until 07/02 but that's just registration... how long after that should I expect to be for the event (as I have to go away to school in mid August)

It shows the transmission next to the model. If it's an automatic, then only the model is listed, but for manuals, you'll see something like "330i manual", etc.
