i was quoted from the dealer a VR6 radiator for a mk3 for $360 CDN with a garage discount.
No radiator should cost 700. This place is trying to take you for a ride. Order one from germanautoparts for $200, and change it yourself. You don't need any special tools and it is an afternoon job.

Ditto what these guys say. Tell them to eat the sh!t they're shoveling. Replacing a radiator can take under two hours, and you can find one at a junkyard for $50 tops. Or get the new one from Adirodack for some peace of mind.

if they're a bunch of hillbillies and they have already quoted you a ridiculous price, then why would you still take your car there? Honestly it's easy to change yourself. you learn more about the car while you do it.

dude I just got my radiator replaced and it was no where close to 700 bucks!. My mechanic got me a brand new radiator, better than stock installed for around 400.00 bucks.

i do want to work on it myself....i just took it there because in the past they did a good job for a fair price and this time i had no idea what was wrong with the car...this time is different though if anybody has a diy on changing the radiator let me know cuz i need some instructions to follow.....

Re: $700 for a radiator???? (stallinbenji)

Tell you what. Everyone with a MKIII needs to invest in a donor. Bought one for 300 bucks to rebuild my son's car. Needed air bags, seatbelts, bumper, grill, hood, rebar, radiator, radiator support, front motor mount and cross member, and oil filter bracket. Then I used the starter, gas cap, and various tubing on my ride. Will pull the manual tranny out, alternator, and fuel pump to keep in reserve. Can you imagine what all this would cost me.

Re: $700 for a radiator???? (Cyclopath)

i would love to find a mkIII donor in my area....but alas all the mkIII's that would be available for the job have already been raped in the salvage yards.....but if i ever find one then i will most surely jump on it....
