Re: another n75 post (Sting14)

Why do you want to change the N75?
Do you have surging going on anywhere ?
If so, where in ther rev range? Partial Throttle? etc.......
If not, I would just leave weel enough alone......
If you chane n75's I would try the "J" valve 1st.
Some people really like the ECS race valve.
If you hit limp ever, try running this....... boostvalve.com

b/c an n75 sometimes results in more hp/torque. stock n75 i spike at 16-17, with the "c" n75 i spike at 20, so why wouldnt he want to change his n75??

n75 + awp = bad?
why's that?
also, no surging, just heard ppl get new n75's and getter better boost

i run the j valve w/ excellent results. i had surging w/ the stock valve w/ apr 93 oct chip, 2 1/2" turbo back exhaust, upgraded dv and a drop in filter.

Re: (screwball)

I was merley stating that the N75 is just a horrible thing to begin with.
Yes a diff N75 can give you more boost.
Sometimes it can bring you right above over boost......causing limp.
It all depends on the specific valve........
If you want more boost, have your software modified to request more boost..........
Thats all I was saying......I hate the N75.....but found that the J valve works great on my setup.
Each car may however react a little diffrently to these changes........

Re: (03wolfie)

ive got an 02 with UP chip and am running the stock F valve with the boostvalve boostcontroller. it spikes to 20 and tapers to 16-17 by 5k. i had it spiking to 24 but decided to back it off. never gone limp and i dont get any surging at any throttle position. just making good power.......

I disagree. Not only does my J valve provide some extra PSI (more power), it also provides for much quicker wastegate response, at least with the GIAC, and I've never hit any limp situation.
Maybe it sucks with the upsolute chip, but I wouldn't make blanket statements like that.

Anyway, with APR93 and exhaust I run into limp with the ECS but rarely with the "J" valve.

APR 91, APR turboback exhaust, ECS N75 and it works great.
Threw a code for the N249 mechanical failure the other day (DV needed to be lubed) and for some reason I swapped the stock N75 back in. Didn't spike as high or hold boost as long. So I swapped the ECS valve back in today when I cleaned the DV.

I dont think you understand what I was trying to say.
Its the design of the system that is not great........
Yes your J valve provides the abiltiy to achive higher boost. But its not the valve that creates boost buddy......it just controls the wastegate.

nah, really? I thought the valve was an extra turbo!

The design of the system allows a change in a simple actuator to provide 2-3 extra PSI through manipulating the wastegate.. Doesn't sound like a flaw to me if that's what you're using it for, buddy.
