I'm pissed!! Just this afternoon a guy rear ended me going about 30, I was stopped as was the traffic in front of me (just on a city street). My car is probably fixable, but the cost would be pretty high. Damn!, I have a new 1.8 75% done, and this car was clean too. At least this guy has insurance...
I'm really surprised that the back glass didn't break, we had to bend the rear fender out to get it to drive, I don't know how I'm gonna open the hood.

i really hope you will be able to salvage this, i hate to see roccos go to the wrecking yard. i wish you the best of luck in saving her. if worse comes to worse, you could always get another shell and just swap things over. sorry to hear about it again.

I swapped a whole lot of my old parts off my '83 onto this one (wrecked in exactly the same way). With family stuff (new baby and mil dying of lung cancer) there's no way I'll have time to do another part swap.

Re: (Freerevving)

looks like the front frame or the rear frame may have bended a little bit, the rear for sure though...

looks evil though.. people must hate roccos those bastards

Re: (grayfox)

I remember getting rear ended in a similar manner in my first 16V Rocco, at a full stop. Thing is it was a 5 ton truck with an entire "garage package" of lumber on it. So I got hit by a big truck AND a garage, sent me into a Tempo in front of me...looked similar to yours...with heavier rear end damage....ruptured the fuel tank too. My big regret from that was being young and naive, thinking that playing Mr Nice Guy with the insurance would get me fair compensation. Apparently insurance companys interpret that approach as an invitation to give you the shaft. Be thorough, persistent and aim high in what you demand from them, don't forget to check with one of those ambulance chasers who work on comission to maybe get you some pain and suffering, that looks like your head got shaken up pretty good. I'm not suggesting fraud... but get professional advice. To this day I'm wondering if my neck problem is related to that crash I was on the recieving end of and wish someone gave me the advice I'm putting out to you now.

The passenger door is real tight now, so the passenger rear fender did get pushed forward a bit. I'm amazed that the hatch made it through so well. I could probably get all the 'good parts' off in a couple of hours (susp, fr brakes, alt., starter etc.). Where did that guy live who had all the vandalism done to his?, all the glass is still good on this one.
I'd be really surprised if the ins. adjuster doesn't total it out.
My cousin is a local insurance/accident specialist attny, I'll keep his # handy. When my '83 got wrecked all they would give me was $400, but it has some previous damage, bad paint and 342k miles on it. My argument was "where can you find any car that is 'sorted' and doesn't need a bunch of parts for $400??", -you can't buy anything but a project for $400.

Re: (FitzLaughlyn)

Sorry to hear about your automotive misfourtune.
Sorry to tell you but there is no way ANY insurance company would pay to have the vehicle fixed. Your rear quarter is buckled before and after the quarter which almost guarantees your rear frame is bent (is the trunk floor bent up?). The upper core support is toast and a new one has to be welded in. Did you start to go under the vehicle in front of you?
The only advice I can give you is to HOUND THE HE** out of the other drivers insurance company. They are going to try to screw you big time. I have dealt with insurance companies on similar damage twice (people love to hit me) and each time I was able to get $2000 plus keep my car. Heck the last insurance company pissed me off so much (2nd time I have been hit) that I called two different people twice a day till they buckled and sent my check (took about a month of persistence). Gather up ANY recipts on the car and as a rule of thumb most insurance companies wont even look at anything over a year old.
Buy yourself another Rocco and slowly put the parts on it when you have the free time. Throw a cheap car cover or tarp over the car in your driveway so the local pd doesnt give you any guff and tackle it a little at a time.
Hope you have some better luck comming.
Justin
