what do u trap at? gotta keep in mind of that pretty sweet 60'

i trap at around 90mph but i hit 2.17's on falken azenis so yeah it could be better. it is fast outa the hole i admit but still should be able to pull 14.9 with a trap of 91 and a 60ft of 2.0 (drag radials now) with the exhaust leak fixed (360 degree gasget leak before cat), timing fixed, and msd 6AL installed.
the tranny has a quaife, arp diff bolts, 3.94 ring and pin and a .75 5th gear. its a fun car but will be even more fun once i get the bottom end done. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
also when i was hitting 16.2's before head and tranny work i was hitting 88 traps and 2.3 60fts so its helps a little with 60fts but i know the power is pulling a lot stronger. i think the head alone dropped me 5-6 tenths of a second. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: 2.0 1/4 mile times? (tweetybird)

These cars are not meant for the 1/4. It's bad that the number 18 is on here when talking about 1/4 mile times. These cars are made for good gas milage. Unless you put massive amounts of money into them, you wont see respectable numbers. Get a Trans Am for the 1/4 mile and hit 13.5 stock. VW's can be turned into good handling cars for a price too. I guess I'm in a bad mood towards vws lately-sorry.

read my sig. 15.2 in the 1/4 and this weekend should hit 14.9 stock bottom end. but it is money. anyone that knows my car can tell you that it is money. but when you have a 2.0 keeping pace if not passing a vr6 at the track its pretty fun especially NA. if any of you are going to be at bugorama look for me ive got the only NA 2.0 mk3 running with the 1.8t's and the vr6's.

Your achievement is impressive but keep in mind not many people keep a VR6 stock. While a worked 2.0 may keep up or even be able to pass a stock VR6, a modded VR makes it a different story.

Re: 2.0 1/4 mile times? (Roddy)

I'm still trying to understand why people think the 1/4-mile is a good indicator for a STREET-DRIVEN car
Image

0-60mph (or 0-100kph) time, lateral-g's, and braking performance (60-0mph time), are more important, real-world indicators to me.
Though horsepower is nice to know it is not a good indicator of which vehicle is better. Case in point, my stock '81 Gold Wing motorcycle has about 84hp (at the crank) and it will out accelerate and out brake my modified '95 Jetta that currently puts down 102hp at the wheels.

Re: (hustler1of3)

not a drag strip fan, i like taking corners at high speeds looseing my friends in the dust, though i wish when i get my vr, that i can make it fast on the street, and agile. i look at 2.0s like a ocelot, not the fastest or most powerful of cats, but very agile and versitile, which makes me a german engineering fan http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

That's an apples-to-oranges comparision, don't you think? There aren't a whole lot of bikes out there that won't out accelerate and out brake a 95 Jetta, modded or not. Kinda like comparing a 600 HP Nascar vehicle to a 600 HP Mack truck.

Re: 2.0 1/4 mile times? (hav)

Not necessarily. For some people you need to show extreme examples so they will understand better. The focus of the example was that hp and the 1/4-mile is not the end-all be-all of vehicle comparison. And your example is good as well, because equal hp vehicles won't clock 1/4-mile times and speeds the same, either http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
It's nice to see others who evaluate cornering as a priority over straight-line http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Y'all are the ones I'd rather hang with...if you can keep up with me

Speakin' of that, where's Stealth? I'm surprised he hasn't piped in...but that g/f of his probably has his hands occupied elsewhere
