Re: Greddy type s BOV for 1.8t help (enigma_2)

First of all, you do NOT want to get a blow off vavle for this engine. This is not a Honda engine. The air that is blown into the atmosphere is needed by the engine. When the air is blown out, fuel is still being pumped to the engine, and when the air flow is disturbed, you will receive to much fuel and a you will feel a lag as the air is blown out. Instead, you need to get a replenishing valve. It is the exact same thing and makes the same noise, but the air is not blown into the atmosphere and you will not feel the lag. Hope this helps.

You can use the GReddy on this motor and it'll work as well or better than the Bailey or Forge. The one caveat is that you have to use it in recirculating mode in the same configuration as stock.
If you vent 100% to the atmosphere you are more than likely going to run into issues/CEL's.

Re: Greddy type s BOV for 1.8t help (Turbo-D)

I used the 007 for about 20,000 miles and the Greddy is much better. The 007 needs to be regularly removed, cleaned and re-lubed to maintain it's crispness. The GReddy has worked beautifully now for 30,000 miles without so much as a hiccup.
Either way, the choice is yours. On the Vortex you'll always seem to come up 50/50 when you ask for opinions between two products.

Hyperboost DV...

no maintaince required
unless you like to run a BOV, your car will be running rich..
you want the Blow off sound.. then get a cold air intake.. even your stock DV will make a sound with a CAI...

from experince... I've used different BOV/DV and here are my personal results/opinons:
Audi TT DV:Doesn't last long if you are chipped
Turbo XS DV: Crap!!! having boost problems, ran it through with a VAG-COM and a code came up of boost pressure holding. Spring gave up after 2 months.
Greddy type s BOV: good for a while but then after 3 weeks engine started to stall, and looked at the spark plugs showing I was running too rich
HKS SSQ BOV: loud. nice sound but problems later on.. Richness/Stalling
forge 007: Good DV... response is okay.. only borrowed from a friend to see.. but now he has to clean his out like every 2 months or so and soon has to order another sping
Stratosphere Hyperboost HX: Finally a DV that I like!!! Response is better then all BOV/DV I've tried. No Maintance is require, lubricated, clean.. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Even though I read about BOV not working I've deciede to find out personally... they work... just that you have to constantly keep adjusting everytime your car stalls.. when you got it right.. you run in to the issue of richness...
but then it really matter on your set up... major upgrades may require a BOV instead of a DV...
but then like it is post above.. you can get the parts from ATP
when I do get my Stage III I plan on re-using my HKS BOV

The greddy type-s CAN be run as a "replenishing valve" better yet, diverter valve. It is far superior than most on the market as far as tunability goes. Go ask Stg3 owners what valve theyre running...either greddy type-s or bosch 710N/110.
BTW, "this is not a honda engine"....come on now, typical mk4 forum comment

I ran my Greddy type S as a bov on my 02 GTI and it ran just fine. There was no "lag" that you speak of. Some cars it works fine on, some it doesn't. It took me a little to get it adjusted right and when I did, it was better than my Forge 007. I don't think you should be telling people that it won't work, because it just might
