I have had problems with the cold start, and overall driving of my G60, so I am thinking of either rerouting it, or getting rid of it all together. FastG60 told me when he removed it from his Raddo it made the idle nice and stable, but he didnt notice and gain in boost, etc.
Is it recommended that I reroute it, or just screw the damn thing and get rid of it?

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (redvdubvert)

There are two camps of thought on this, both seem to have their pluses & minuses, I myself did a reroute. Have you tried adjusting your idle screw to take care of your problems?

Yes and it still wants to stall and jump around during the cold start cycle.
Does an ISV-less G60 start up fine in the winter?

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (corradokyd)

So i need to cut the wires from the plug and run them to a power source? Thats the first time I heard of that......

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (corradokyd)

I havnt heard that either.. can anyone clarify?

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (VDUB-IRC)

I removed it but its only summer driver so i have no problem but some say you have to hold the pedal at idle during warn up in the winter....and i didnt connect any power to the isv plug..i think this is a bad idea....do a search for isv shhhitt and tons will come up....

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (redvdubvert)

I ran mine unplugged for a while. This basically creates a vacuum leak as the ISV stays open when un-plugged. It will be sluggish off boost like this. Idle was also rough. I just put a good used one in and am loving it. I see no reason besides saving money to get rid of it. But if it's only used during the summer and you dont have A/C, get rid of it.

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (LooseNut)

my friends digi 1 16v aba turbo has it conneced to to 12v constant and it runs like it never even had an isv. it jus tcleans up the baye a little too...

im sure sam will chime in and clarify whether or not you need it cause i dont even know what it does (connecting to power)

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (corradokyd)

yeah, anyone else know about plugging/wiring the isv plug up to anything?
would like to get rid of lots of stuff in my engine bay just to clean it up, and make it easier to wrok in (i have a HUGE A2 front strut bar, so big the hood frame had to be modified so it could fit)

Any more suggestions?

Yes. Keep it (or send it to me), and just install a small air filter on the end of it to get rid of the plumbing. If you think yours leaks, test it with an air compressor at the PSI you think your SC is creating. If it really leaks, then you can either use a check valve to keep it from leaking, or replace it.

no point in keeping it if you can live without it. Me i like my cold starts and a/c idle up. Sure would clean up the bay , esp after seeing what the !carbon canister mod looked so good.

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (mrkrad)

like adam said, i got rid of mine a while ago, along with the charcoal canister. mine starts up just fine in the winter and idles like a champ, rock solid at 900 rpm, warm or cold.
i just unplugged it (with car off, adam

) and got a vacuum cap that fits the nipple on the manifold and plugged it and then adjusted idle with the adjustment screw. i don't have to feather the throttle when i start it in the winter, infact i can't when i remote start it

Hehehehehe!
Where did you get the caps to block off the intake mani and the bypass tube?

Re: ISV delete or reroute? (fastg60)

Oh (from picture).. That is what that chair bottom part with the BBM kit is for

Thanks, but I'll keep the ISV with checkvalve.
