New Boxster vs. Elise

The Elise is such an amazing car. If I were in the market to buy a 2-seater I'd be conflicted between:

and this:

2 of my favorite roadsters that are similarly priced. Which one would you pick and why?

I think the Elise is the truer sprots car of the two. Whereas the Porsche is more of a luxury sportscar, but a sportscar none the less. I love the Boxster styling, so that would be my pick.

Which end is the front? The Boxster is one of the finest handling sports cars under 50k ever made, but man..do I hate that rear end.

As a daily driver the boxster. But if it isn't going to be driven daily then the Elise.

Porsche for me- I don't need to run around an SCCA track with my pants on fire every single day.

I'd need it for everyday. In that case it's the Porsche.

I think the most people would choose the Boxter for everyday driving. Not me, however. The Elise would be luxury compared to my over stiff-no radio GTI. And I don't think reliability would be an issue, it does have a Toyota engine, afterall.

Boxster for me. Although the Elise would be a blast to drive occasionally, it would be hard to live with. And my wife has very strong anti-go-cart-like-car feelings.
Plus, maybe I'm in the CL minority, but I don't want a car that screams "Look at me! Look at me!" I want a car that whispers, "Pssst... Hey, over here."

It's not already. Elise has been out in Europe for the past 5 years.

elise all the way, daily and all.
weight is hard to get rid after a certain point.
so I would take the elise.
plus you don't see it everywhere.
I can always rip out that lame engine anyway.

why yes it is being redisigned, with a whole new chassis and powerplant.
edit: don't have time to find the spy pics of it, but there are prototypes on the track already. word is it will be US ready out of the box, no waiting for it. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
