Another new Touareg...

I wanted to say thanks to everyone - I've been watching the forum for a few weeks now and finally decided to do the deal. I got a 04 in blue/silver with the premium sounds and xenons. Got it from Cherry Hill VW in NJ. Great car, great deal, great experience.
Of course now I have to figure out how the computer works. First time I put a cd in, it pops up and says "CDP / TR1". I pulled over becasue I thought it was something about low tire pressure! LOL! Time to read the book.

From now on, any poster who buys a new egg is required to post a picture. I keep forgetting what the car looks like.
And whatever you do, don't listen to what Leweyb tells you; he's an escapee from an institution called POOLANDSPA.COM.

Ok - now that I know when a cd is playing... here are a few questions

I was reading in the manual about the center armrest console. It was talking about 2 buttons, and an upper compartment and a lower compartment. I don't have any buttons, just an empty hole you put your hand through to raise the armrest lid, and one big bucket. Was this optional equip, or did someone pull it at the dealer?
Also - for the climate control, does 'econ' mode run the ac, or just vent and heat?

Congrats on the Treg. My parents live in Cherry Hill. Going down there in about 3 wks. Maybe we can meet up. Did you get a V6? With The PP. The regular center arm console doesn't have the 2 buttons.
The Econ turns off the AC and runs everything else.

There is a great group of people in this forum. If it hadn't been for the TOUAREG forum on Vortex, I probably would have gone freakin' crazy over some of the issues on this thing.
It sure makes it easier when a problem is identified and solutions are found - 'cuz God knows, if it hadn't been for this forum - there would have been a couple of time my dealer wouldn't of had a clue had I not given them a direction to look.

tom, this seems strange. i believe all touaregs are supposed to come equipped with the 2 buttons. one button raises the center armrest "top" to unveil a shallow space with a large holder for a liter bottle. put the top back down and press the other button and the entire top section opens up into the big bucket you are referring to. there should not be any holes that i am aware of.
perhaps you are missing this part?

Nope. My base V6 has no buttons on the center console, no upper/lower storage, and no "big gulp" holder. Also, the cover doesn't adjust forward and back. Just a simple hinge to open it it to one big storage bin.
It's the minimalist version, I think.
