No... it's not a must

Well you must have one (an OEM one) for the car to run. LOL

Seriously I think 1.8t Beetles need 4 bar FPRs, I could be wrong.

Re: (27psiBoom)

So 21psi is about the highest boost level a AGU can handle with stock injectors and fuel pressure?
I'm running 10 psi right now, but because I'm getting chipped this week I'm wondering if the stock injectors will do. The stock injectors are 289ccm@3 bar. Is it ok to use a 4bar fpr to get 334ccm@4 bar? Because I'm scared of running lean.

Will the ecu make my A/F ratio al right?

AGU's should need a 4 bar as their injectors are similar to AWW/P but they have a difference which makes them flow less.
IIRC - The stock AGU injectors are pretty close to max on duty cycle @ 3 bar? I might be mistaken...

Re: (DiscoZ)

Alright i'm kinda confused about how can just adding a 4bar FPR or an adjustable FPR can do anything with stock injectors and stock pump? Is the stock 3bar really that restrictive...what are the limits of the stock pump and injectors...I have an old adjustable FPR but I didnt think it would do much but after reading a few post I just thought I needed some clarification

I'm pretty much sure the stock injectors are 240cc and they will do the job just fine at 20-21psi, been chipped for 1.5 years.
