Re: What do u thnk about Nitrous for 3.0 v6? (04AudiQuattro)

you know i am not sure how that motor would react, the timing advance and retard on that thing is so advanced i am not sure if that would help or hinder. Give it a shot, if you blow the motor up oh well. its under warranty, just dont mention the nitrous

Ima go talk to the guy that does my mod's if he gives me the green light im going to spray about a 75 shot lol :^)
I was wondering has anyone here ever used Vag-Com i wanted to find out if u can reset the comp just for the day you install or uninstall mods so the dealer wont find out lol :^)

Re: (04AudiQuattro)

YOu'll start with that 75 shot... think its neat... then decide its not enough... so you'll do a 100 shot... and you'll keep edging up, more and more... then BOOM! Your engine takes a dump.
Start saving your money for a supercharger. By the time you've got the $$, they'll actually have one shipping for the B6 3.0.

Yea thats the other option nah but if i spray 75 thats baou tit i wont go higher so i dont ave to many problem's nd im waiting for heaers to come out and injectors and furl pump and cam gears but no luck yet i found a twinturbo setup for my engine but i rather have a supercharger so im just waiting but for now i nmight spray! Have you ever used vag-com or do u know how the computer works with the whole warranty deal lol!

Re: (04AudiQuattro)

I am pretty familiar with VAG-COM, there's a whole forum here on Vortex dedicated to it.
VAG-COM will not make your car forget that you screwed it up. It will allow you to clear fault codes. If the sources of those faults are not fixed, then the fault codes return. Also, when you clear fault codes, it resets the readiness code. If a dealership sees that a malfunctioning car has come in, and it does not have the readiness condition set, they can become suspicious and start probing further into the vehicle, and what lead up to the current state. Resetting the engine controller will also reset various parameters such as fuel trim, that a dealer could find suspect, especially in a non-running vehicle.
VAG-COM is a great tool for diagnosing issues with your vehicle, especially if you add modifications like a chip. It isn't a useful tool for deceiving the dealership because you ran the car beyond its capabilities.

Lastly, this forum offers a spell check function. Consider using it. Combined with punctuation, you can convey thoughts in a manner that others can understand.

Sorry for my punctuation im not a write over here im no tryin to write a book im tryin to speak my mind the way i undertsand it sorry for not getting technical with it lol One more question if i swicth my paerformance chip to the stock chip will they know i switched it

Re: (04AudiQuattro)

No offense but just reading this I do not think you are ready for Nitrous. If you have no clue what you are doing you can screw you engine up with just a 25 shot. I would start with an intake and exhaust and educate yourself on your engine before you spend alot more money than planned. I thought I was an expert and I still blew a 10K motor to pieces.
Nitrous is the best mod I have ever done to any car I have owned. Relativly cheap and very safe IF you know what you are doing. I am still learning myself.

Nah i understand what your saying but dont worry ive been in the car scene for a long time i use to own a rb26dett in a s13 i know my cars but ive never owned a audi till now thats why i was aking if anyone has ever sprayed it the thing im a little scared of is the compression of the enigine its 10:1 and normally people would not spray a engine like that im working on getting my exhaust and intake and as soon as some injectors come out ima get some and fuel pump and a chip but i was thinking about spraying the engine cause like you said its cheap and it gives you good power for the money. But i know my enigine's i know a bit about euro's but probably not as much as you do since youve owned the audi way before me but dont worry i listen to what your tellin me im not a hardhead i wont spray until i learn a bit more about ym engine. thanks alot dude

Re: (04AudiQuattro)

The fact that you said cam gears shows you obviously have no idea what goes on in an audi. The 3.0L engine is one of the most advanced motors ever as far as an engineering standpoint. The Cam timing is not only sperate from bank to bank but it can also differentiate advance to one cam and retard to another. The computer can advance the engine i believe up to 22 degrees and retard it something like 34. Also the fact that the clearances in that engine are so small that if you did get away with a cam gear and the car ran you would probably waste valves at higher RPM's. To do the tuning your talking your really starting with the wrong engine. If your really serious about this here is what i would do. Intake, and exhaust. If you want to spray get a wet system. The Danger with nitrous comes when you go too lean. This is why most prefer a wet system as opposed to a dry system. (for those that dont know) A wet system uses 2 solenoids, one for nitrous and one for fuel. So when you spray it injects a proportional amount of fuel so you do not go lean. A large misconception is that nitrous is like fuel. It is not, it isn't even flamable by itself. Nitrous is an oxidizer, it simply allows you to burn more fuel in the engine giving you more power. A dry system injects nitrous only and uses the vehicle's fuel delivery system to inject more fuel. Which is not bad if your fuel system can handle it. But the danger comes if even maxed out your fuel delivery does not match your nitrous delivery then you have a lean situation. Tempatures go up drasticly(sp) and things start to break. In conclusion

intake exhaust, chip, and a 75 wet shot you will be fine

thanks alot dude thats most probably what ima do or just supercharge the car r3member like i said this is my first time owning a audi ive only owned japanese cars before cause german cars are a bit more amount of money which for the price is great i love german cars but im just learning about their engines recently thanks for the advice do u know how mucha supercharger will run me and do you know how much power it will give me thanks alot dude!

Re: (04AudiQuattro)

supercharger kit for that car i have no idea about the cost and power is all relative to the amount of boost you run. As a gereral rule they say that 6 psi is approx 50% hp increase. So the 3.0 which is 220 with 6 psi you should be looking at approx 330. But that is not a direct corelation of power. So 12 psi would not be a 100% jump. This is not a direct rule as far as the 6 psi headwork and intake and cam work all that is a factor which can increase or decrease the effect of boost
