there was a drag vr6t, that ran the gt40r. i believe it made 640whp @ 34psi on a built engine. dont listen to these guys, do what you want. id like to see more guys running bigger turbos. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

How about swaping in a honda tranny then... I understand it's not easy, however if that's what it takes to hold the power then why not give it a shot???

Justin your right a honda doesn't make as much torque as a vw but... stock honda gears will hold 700-800whp which makes 550-600tq no problem..
Quaife VW gears won't hold 650whp/600tq

If it's track only car like Jason Hunt and Brian Ballards yup... you'll go pretty much all season...
If it's tuned on the street doing numerous highway pulls like Cunha's car... you'll break gears every once in a while... but... There stock only thing it really costs you to replace is your time and effort...
Quaife Gears break your lookin at $1000 for new mainshaft + whatever gear broke
 
we never have problems breaking honda gears. Sometimes the R&P blows up if its not cyro treated and if your running 26" or bigger slicks.
24's tho is pretty much bulletproof. Hell, my buddy is running the stock axles / 730whp / 10.1x 1.5's to low 1.6's 60ft every time.
vw drivetrain just sucks lol. Theres no way to put a honda gearbox on there beacause its on the wrong side of the car, everything is ass backwards.
I'm going for weight reduction and hoping it takes some of the load off the gears.

Well Cortney is running 25's... plus i still don't see how his car is making 730whp and only trapping 141-144mph...
As well as the 1.5 to low 1.6 60fts... he's losing time some where if he's actually cutting 60fts that good.

As for the weight reduction method on quaife gears for vw.... better be lighter then 2300lbs, cause they still broke then

You sure thats the same boost he ran on his 172 passes ???
I dunno I guess anything is possible... but I know what other cars trapping that are making.... hmm... oh well
