I took this pic yesterday. It is a ~1989 Jetta GX. It had DOT taillights but the rest of it looked to be eurospec...

i did notice that the flares were a little different...they had the little trim peices that go over the bumper like the mk3 kamei ones...they were painted, but i don't know what brand they are. maybe i will repost this pic in the mk2 forum and see if anyone knows.
