I have a 1998 NB with 86k miles on it. Bought it in 2001 and have had no engine problems to date(knock on wood). My problems are cosmetic and electrical.
1. Check engine light is on (MAF sensor problem??)
2. Airbag light has been on for 2 weeks.
3. Glovebox latch is broken, so my glove box just dangles open. (replacemet with parts and labor $450)
Can anyone offer non dealer solutions?
thanks

First thing I would do is get a Vag-Com and see what the CEL is and replace or clean the MAF. Maybe someone can get you the glovebox latch part number and you can replace that yourself.

check engin light may be a o2 sensor , find someone with a vag com , youll know what it is in about 2 minutes ,if you cant find someone there are parts stores around most cities that will hok up to it and check it for you . here in columbus we have auto zones that do it for free ,
go with the scrap yard for the glove box ,, you need to drop the lower panel of the dash (nothing major ) , to get to the back of the box to get the door off ,
