It's not just about peak boost. It's about being able to run boost as long as possible with temps kept in check. A 1.5 bar short interval may not be as quick as a 1.3 bar chip which holds boost longer and safer. You need to find the turbo compressor efficency range and stay in it!

my boost drops off to about 15lbs at readline

It is not low. I haven't seen more than 222whp with a KO4+standard mods like yours. Also, the 222whp was on an Audi TT-180hp from the factory. The TT always makes more power than an AWD motor with the same mods(lower compression+dual downpipe~3" downpipe.) The GIAC KO4 chip that drm has spikes to 22-23psi for a sec., holds 20psi till 5000rpm, tapers off to 15psi, and beyond 6500 holds 12psi till the rev limiter. It also depends on load(uphill/downhill)
Bugpower is right, peak boost does not matter for power. It is the ability of the turbo to keep the pressure in the cylinders for longer. In my opinion, the KO4&your motor will be most happy with 1.25bar=18.3psi till 5500rpm, down to 15psi till redline.

Does GIAC offer different "stages" of chip tuning for the K04? What kind of boost is Upsolute running?
The last thing I want is boost spikes, even though it won't be so bad for me, since I will have upgraded the I/C. The turbo will be ragged on but, at least the motor will be a bit more resistant to detonation (from the hot intake charge otherwise seen without the upgraded I/C)...

As far as I know, GIAC does not offer stages of the KO4 chip. The chip was made for http://www.AWE-Tuning.com by GIAC for their KO4 kit. AWE spent a lot of time tuning the kit to make sure it is reliable, safe&powerful. So, you shouldn't be worried about intake temps and all that--thay have taken everything into account. I know people that have run the kit for over a year now without probs. I was amaized at how smooth the kit was when I first drove my car(going from chipped KO3 to chipped KO4) Also, Mike P. who's on Vortex has run 13.6@101.7 w/ this kit. Well, I heard he is an excellent driver, but still 102mph in the 1/4 is no joke.

yea..well I love the kit..but I need a little bit more power.......You said they took all things into account??? well I dont think they took an aftermarket DP into account...I have poped a code that shut my car down...and another guy running the K04 kit has doen the same thing.......Max torque control limit exceeded...and I have to cut off my car and back on again to continue driving.........I hope GIAC comes out with a version 2 that fixes these issues...and gives a little bit more power!!!

I personally have an Oettinger downpipe, which is 2.5", and I haven't had this problem, but I've seen your dyno and can see that happening(your car spools like crazy down low) I defenitely agree that more power can be had up top--5000rpm+
I am hoping GIAC revise the software too.

Maybe you should try and dyno again with the stock intercooler hooked up and see what happens.....maybe you are loosing Hp because of the intercooler or something......but 210 still looks good to me!!!
