Hi, Mrs and I are going to Berlin & Paris for work for 2 weeks, late Jan. I was thinking of getting some bits (suspension for sure) that I can find for the Mk2.
Anyone have any past experience with Berlin in general? We are there for work, without a day off . Can't spend to much time shopping for car bits.
Thanks & Merry Christmas.
Aaron

Great disco bikkies in Berlin.

Actually, it's a great city, the thing that blew me away was the extent of the bullet holes that still pock-mark the city's buildings. The second world war has always seemed so abstract. That freaked me out a little bit.
Anyway, have a good trip, pardon the pun, Berlin's one of the world's truly great cities. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Anyone been to Berlin, any shopping advice? (mdt)

Thanks again, actually I'd love to know if anyone has bought some car bits and could recommed a store/stores?
I have posted in German regional forum as well, see if anyone is forthcoming with some info.
Sloth; How big is it, how heavy is it? What is the address of the shop? if it's close to us(within 1/2 hour or so) then I am serious if you want it.
I just had to read that again MDT and I thought you had written "disco bikies' as in bikers, village people style, oh well not for me anyway.

No, I'm talking about Festivals of the Summer with Paul van dyk and other stuff that I don't do any more because I'm old and boring, but ah, my memories of living as a student in Amsterdam, no-one can take those away...
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, my recommendation is that you if you do this huuuge favour for Jim, which I think is terrific, have the goods delivered to the Berlin GPO labelled Post Restante or for collection. The last thing you want is to have to travel to some God Forsaken place when it could have been sent to the central city for next to nothing. When you're travelling, every day counts, and if it's not made easy for you it will take you half of one, if not more.
For your own goods, get someone who speaks German order the stuff over the Net for you and also get them delivered to the Berlin GPO too. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Having said that, can you fit a Schnitzer cat back exhaust in your luggage for me? It's pre-assembled.

Aaron,
At the time I was there a couple of years ago, we were only buying vintage parts - last year, we caught the end of a massive GTI show, there was 12,000 odd Golf's at that. When you get to the airport, there are a heap of magazines, like VW Scene, from there, youy will be able to follow the advertisements to the places with the parts you need. - If you get a chance & have a day or so free - go to the Autostadt at Wolfsburg - its awesome & well worth an extra day.
Cheers

I would MAKE a spare day for this - the Autostadt is HEAVEN ON EARTH and I can't tell you enough how important it is that you spend a day there!

Hey have a top trip. Prague is great, wonderful architecture.
We have changed our plans and heading to Los Angeles again 14th Jan (was only there in Sep). Have to wait until our June or July holiday and get to Germany then, should be ok as My mum is German and she is coming as babysitter/translator.
