AGX Autosports in Portland Oregon...
They had a 4dr Golf for sale for $500. I told them on the 1st of feburary that I had money, and would be buying the car for my paralyzed brother's care taker. The only issue, was the Golf had no motor in it at the time. For the $500, the car would be running and be complete. I told them I would buy the car if it was done by the 14th, and they told me it would be done no problem.
I went down from time to time to check on the progress, and make sure things were getting done. Nothing happened. Around the 12th, I told them the 14th is coming up, and they started freaking out saying it wouldn't be done. I told them I could let it go for another day or 2, and to just get it done. They still didn't do anything.
On the night of the 16th, they finally pulled it into the garage and started on it. I told them I'd come by around 4, and stay however late they needed me to help them finish the car. I left at 8 o clock after nothing had been done.
On the morning of the 17th, I went down and talked to the owner about the car, because I was ready to just find another car. The owner said that he would help me out, and we'd do the car ourselves. We worked most of the day of the 17th, getting odds and ends to put a motor together and get it in the car. The mechanic didn't help at all, until that night he put the engine in the car.
I came down again today on the 18th, and the owner and I worked on the car. Eventually, they got the car running (The mechanic wouldn't do anything to help us, other than setting the ignition timing) When they were about to leave to have a catilytic converter installed, the mechanic started screaming at me. I went back into the shop and asked what was up, so they told me to fix the shift linkage I put in upside down. I told him that he can fix it himself, because the car should have been done 4 days ago. He simply said "that's it, get out."
I told him some choice words, and told him where to stick the car. As I was leaving, I turned around and told him I wanted compensated for the gas I had used to pickup parts for them and whatnot, and money for my time spent there. He gave me a whole $5.
During this time, while I was helping him work on the car, they told me he was going to jack up the price another $100, because they threw away most of the parts that they needed to get the car running.
I was expected to pay more money, take their crap, and work on a car that was supposed to be mine 4 days ago because they're lazy.
I would encourage everyone to stay as far away as they can from this shop. They will lie to you about completion times and prices, and blow up on you when you try to help.
