Daren, if you're trying to change the entire colour of the engine bay, then it'll be quite hard to get a thorough job. If you're just spot painting over some rust in a battery tray for example, then you should be able to.

actually - I do have a suggestion - if you took out your battery and moved the wiring aside, took out the washer bottle, moved the coolant reservoir etc... - then took out your airbox and everything up to the throttle body - took out your grill/lights - and even your radiator support - and then covered the engine with platic or whatever - you could probably do a lot of the engine compartment - enough to get away with it - it would be very hard to stop runs and stuff though.........

I found if you did the engine compartment in black, you can get away with a lot. I painted mine with the engine out, but I think it could have been done without too much trouble if you move the wiring aside...
These are the best pic I could find on short notice. I know the black sounds ghetto, but it really does look pretty good when all is said and done.

the black doesn't actually look that bad... mine needs to be painted and that might be a decent alernative... could you pull up some more pics maybe taken from a little farther away in front of the car? thanx in advance.
