? about the little knob at the bottom of the gas pedal

a long long time ago i remember a thread about people cutting off this little knob at the floor under the gas pedal. apparently, you can step hard into it and it'll 'snap' or 'pop' and the car will go into an 'extreme' performance mode..
i remember some people cut the knob off so the car will be gassed into this mode easier

can someone fill me in if i am mistaken or tell me more about this?

The pedals on our cars are merely actuators.
With DBW, they're just an input device. If you wanted to, you could wire up buttons on the wheel and drive w/just your hands. Theoretically.
The mod people are referring to is advancing the actuation of the pedals for a springy-er, more immediate pedal feel. Part of the process was removing the knob underneath...and it is a stopper only. No kickdown switches or WOT buttons.
From what I recall, it did something for VR6's...and from truly doing it...it BLOWS for chipped turbos. Don't even bother.
