Well, I got my 4 new Falken tires mounted, balanced, new alignment done today by a tire shop. The good news, shimmy is gone for good, the car feels and rides so much better now, what a relief.
The one thing that the service person told me is that I have "negative camber" on my front right tire. He asked me if I had hit something on that side, I replied that the previous owner apparently did (full spare had some damage on the sidewall when I got the car). He said it usually is a bent strut and that I may have to replace it. I then asked him if it would adversely affect the handling on the car, he said no, but that this tire may wear out unevenly and that I should replace the strut as soon as I can.
Has anyone had this happen to their car? Anyone familiar with this that would like to add their thoughts?
Also, I have noticed that my steering wheel is not completely centered after the alignment. If is slightly tilted to the right (not much), just slightly. I wonder if that has anything to do with the "negative camber" situation.
Thanks.

Not true!! Negative camber on one wheel will CERTAINLY affect your handling! Thats what camber is for!! Sports cars have negative camber on all four wheels (typically) to improve handling. They DO wear out the inside of the tire quickly though. Its a price you pay for excellent handling.

How much negative camber? How much difference between sides? If the difference is small there should be no affect on handling. If the negative camber is small it may be within spec. Check the shop manual for specs. Good luck.

Thanks annapoal, I don't know how much the difference is, he didn't give me a print out. I'm thinking of having the dealer take a look at it anyway, do the alignment over, because of the issue with the steering wheel not being completely centered (which bugs the heck out of me
