Jetta test drive: from a Passat owner's perspective

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to purchase a 2004 Passat TDI Sedan...when I saw what the new 2005.5 Jettas were like I changed 180 degrees and am now going to purchase the Jetta TDI! for ME the Jetta is the way to go!

See, I found just the opposite. I thought the shifter was really stiff and coarse. I got back into my GLI/1.8t and noticed an overwhelming power difference.
I was flooring that 2.5 and it was barely giving me anything in return. They can keep it but I will give the GLI V 2.0T a test drive when it appears.

Bobsjett,
I havent had the opportunity to test drive a Jetta TDI in the new model yet. That will be a factor when deciding to purchase, however, I am not purchasing this to be a super speed demon. Just basic comfortable transportation that, to me, looks cool on the inside and out!

That's why you need a TDI!

It's not "a super speed demon", but it is "basic comfortable transportation that, to me, looks cool on the inside and out." Not to mention all the great "luxury" features it comes with in the price range it does.
Just think, soon you'll be "All grown up. Sort of" and getting around 50 mpg!

HEHEH You got that right....I got my fill of "speed" with my 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo...And now that I will be doing some heavy driving at times the TDI seems the best fit for me!
I do love the looks of it and the inside is simply incredible...I like it better than the inside of my Lincoln Navigator which will be going "bye bye" as soon as I get the jetta!
